As I discern no differences between this and the flake version, I’m essentially repeating that review here. The old belt Virginia provides a lot of tangy dark fruit, light tart and tangy citrus, earth and wood, with a little vegetative grass. The floralness is very obvious, but loses a little strength in the last half of the experience. I also get a hint of Lakeland. It also sports a light perfume essence. The very woody, earthy, sour and sweet mahogany topping tones down the tobaccos a bit. Won’t bite or get harsh, but does sport a rough edge here and there. The strength and taste levels are medium. The nic-hit is a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium. Burns cool, clean, and a little slow as broken flakes will with a mostly consistent sweet, sour, floral flavor that extends to the lingering after taste. The room note is a little stronger. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, and requires some relights. Not quite an all day smoke.
