My favourite tobacco to date! I have for many years smoked aromatics and only in recent months ventured into pure Virginias, and also into flakes. The most notable thing is that unlike aromatics which in my experience tend to taste nasty in the final third of the bowl BBF smokes to a fine ash with no deterioration in taste at all. In fact while subtly changing the final third tastes easily as good as the first puff. I've mixed it with SG's Firedance when smoking indoors as the aroma seems preferable to my wife, but quietly yearn to retreat to my study for an experience uncontaminated by any topping at all. I enjoy it dried out a little or even straight from the tin, a flake or two simply rolled and stuffed, and it stays lit pretty much throughout. If you haven't tried it yet, order a tin!

This is an excellent flake tobacco. It has a earthly/smokey taste with the strength being medium. Very mild sweetness to it which I have to look for carefully. Otherwise it is difficult to find that VA sweetness.
Sip this blend and try not to puff too hard or you will get a bite.
I recommand drying the tobacco for 10 to 15min per side.
Overall a good tobacco to have in rotation.

Very natural Virginia, that is mild in taste and strength. The subdued flavour is of molasses and toasty oats...and is faultless for that ‘contemplative' smoke. This blend does not have the minuscule sweet-spot that Full Virginia Flake seems to only rarely (IMO) reveal.
Highly recommended.
A companion infusion: a cup of java.

I will first say I love this. I love anything Samuel Gawith has. However it is a flake. I am not very fond of flakes. I found this one very hard to rub out. I found it even harder to light. This being said. Once it was lit and was going it was excellent. slow burning, cool, but not at first. The longer it burned the better it became all the way to the end. It has a nice sweetness to it from the Virginia's. It is just wonderful straight tasting tobacco. what could be better than that.

I love this stuff. To me it seems to have more of a nicotine kick than FVF does. It's a very approachable smoke that does not need to be babied as much as FVF to enjoy the flavors it imparts which is somewhat naturally sweet with a natural tobacco taste. It improves with age. I typically dry, rub, pack and smoke. I seem to smoke more of this than other Virginia's. This is definitely in my top 3 pure Virginia tobacco.

I really enjoy BBF first thing in the morning. If I decide to have a morning smoke, it's always BBF. Pairs well with coffee and is mild enough that it leads into later afternoon and evening smokes perfectly.

Boy this was good! Its all about tobacco with this one and it is nothing more .... or less. No looking for taste with this one...it is just in your face tobacco. Tobacco for the man's man!
Freshly opened tin smells of raisins. After a couple of weeks drying time it still smells of raisins even though moisture content is about half.
I decided to give it a thorough rubbing out and then I broke into very small pieces and loaded my pipe very loosely. This smoked very well with minimal relights.
Taste was good old sweet tobacco. The sweetness was just right and provided at times a "toasty" flavor. This tobacco has convinced me that I need to just stick to Virginias and quit my quest for the perfect English. Most English blends tend to leave me "wanting more" whereas a sweet virginia like BBF leaves me feeling satisfied.
After a nice experience with BBF I am going to try FVF for sure!

Wow !!! The tin note is of dates. The taste is of a very deep full Virginia flake. Reminds me of MacBaren's Navy Flake.... a tad lighter.... much better.... no casing. Room note is tobacco, but pleasant. Not an aromatic. This has instantly become my third favorite after Davodoff's Flake Medallions and SG's Golden Glow.
