I am 44 years old and I have been enjoying smoking a pipe for geez, it has to be about 15 years, maybe longer. I always was intrigued by pipe smokers. When I was a kid my next door neighbor smoked a pipe and I always loved the smell, he smoked cherry flavored Borkum and Riff. My great grandfather smoked a pipe and I have a pipe ashtray of his that he made sitting here next to me. I was a cigarette smoker for many years prior to picking up a pipe. I was just reading the article on the homepage before registering, from the editor of Pipes and Tobaccos magazine and I can relate very much to his story because smoking a pipe got me off of cigarettes too, and just the same I wish I had tried it earlier. Pipe smoking is in a league of its own. I always say it is very much like wine, and fine wine for those of us who choose to smoke the finer tobaccos out there. In my opinion a quality made pipe and high quality tobaccos are what make the experience of smoking a pipe something special. A new tin of tobacco is something I look forward to and get excited about every time I come back from my local tobacco shop or receive an order in the mail. I am like a kid on Christmas morning. And, with companies like C & D, Dunhill, Frog Morton (just to name a few) you can always explore something new. It is a pastime I don't see myself ever giving up, I love it too damn much.
