GQ Tobaccos Trent Mixture

(4.00)
Trent Mix came about to bridge the gap between more traditional English blends and aromatics. The base is comprised of Virginias, burley and Kentucky, this rich and punchy base is complimented with the addition of mellow (aromatic style) black cavendish and a dashing of Turkish Izmir. To give these deep and traditional flavours a nice brighter side, the use of a bitter black cherry topping is applied. The tobaccos burns slowly and has a cool and complex flavour profile. The cherry has a very natural taste and works to compliment the core tobacco taste. This blend is stronger compared to most aromatics and can sneak up on expecting smokers.

GQ Tobaccos - Trent Mixture.

A perfectly moist tobacco right out of the pack. The cherry topping comes through quite strong in the aroma, not as full as some aromatics but it's still easy to pick out. Although on the GQ Tobaccos website it says there is broken flake in there they are really fine pieces so don't worry about having to rub them any, the pipe can be filled and smoked right away.

There's no problem with getting a decent burn initiated, a fairly minor touch of the flame is more than enough to establish a good ignition. The smoke is really cool and very thick in construction and wonderfully complimented by the cherry addition. The cherry comes through brill' and the sweetness from the black Cavendish marries with it perfectly. Of all the flavours I find the Orientals to be the lightest, the sweetness of the cherries and the black Cav' tend to mask any idiosyncratic features from them. There isn't much nicotine in this, I don't think it would satisfy many N lovers but as this is more of a blend for flavour I don't find that to be too much of a problem. The added flavour stays at the same strength throughout, easy to identify but not so strong it becomes too much.

I think this would be a wonderful blend to begin the hobby with due to its mild strength, sweet taste and cool smoke albeit still a great blend for the most experienced of us to sit and unwind with. Four stars.
