A typical mixture as the ones they smoked in the 40ies and 50ies with light loose Virginia, pressed Virginia, latakia and cavendish. This is a full bodied blend that gives you the scent of those days.

Notes: My Own Blend digs up the old recipes and provides you with a taste of those days...

Paul Olsen - Tobacco of two decades: 1939-1959.

I'm lucky enough to have accumulated a fair stash of Paul Olsen blends over the past few years, but try to be sparing with opening/reviewing due to the price; this is about 25 euros plus post and packaging from Denmark. Anyway, I decided to pop this one today and can gladly say it's worth the expense.

For starters, it's not an astringent Lat-Bomb. The Latakia's of the mellower variety; it's not sharp or caustic. To put it simply, for a Latakia it's quite a soft flavour. The Cavendish adds to the calmness: there's a vanilla note that's easy to ascertain, without it seeming too false or sticky; it doesn't detract from the fact that this is an English at heart. A bowl of 39-59 burns extremely well all the way down and leaves only a little dottle behind.

The nicotine's quite strong, and the room-note's very enjoyable; a little heavy, but I like it!

A very well accomplished blend.... worth the cost!

Highly recommended.

I can't believe that there's anyone alive who can remember what tobacco was like in those two decades.Anyway, I got some and actually it's quite good. Its a vaper all right.I just get a tad of cavendish seaping through. Its got a good nic.kick.Who knows if my grandpa smoked this sort of thing or even cared what its contents and characteristics were like.I can see that this would satisfy a pipe smoker of that era.Burns quite fast, easy to light and keep alive. No bite at all.Good smoke, but not that interesting, but worth giving it a shot, despite the price.Might take you back to the war years if you use your imagination. On second thoughts, there are so many good tobaccos out there, which ,of course in the States are dirt cheap,so unless you're planning a trip to Denmark,I wouldn't bother.
