Dry it first and smoke slowly, or risk some warmth on the tongue. Won't bite, and has virtually no nicotine. The vanilla topping has little depth, though it does tone down the tobaccos almost completely. Burns moderately well and leaves little moisture in the bowl. Needs an average number of relights. Has a decent after taste. An all day smoke that can be used as a mixer.

I'm not going to compare this to other aromatic blends costing several times more. Taken for what it is, a super bargain, it deserves 4 stars. Paid 17 bucks for a 12 ounce bag, more than a bargain it's a great value since it tastes and smells quite good. Burns cool, no goopy junk at the bottom, and I just love the aroma.

The flavor is mild, you can still taste tobacco, the vanilla casing is strong but it comes out more as aroma and room note. While there is a faint chemical undertone (to be expected from a blend like this one) it is not as PG laden as Captain Black or any of the other Lane blends. In fact, this stuff is less than half the price of Captain Black and more than twice as good.

The only slight issue is the cut; very rough cut that makes it sometimes hard to evenly pack a bowl. At this price though I can't complain.

I will highly recommend this if you like aromatics

I understand opinions are opinions but I dont understand some of these negative reviews. Its not that bad of a drugstore blend, in fact its way better than Captain Black white. It has less of a chemical taste as in CB blends. The mix of the black cavendish create a nice and pleasant vanilla aroma. Smokers Pride vanilla is a lot better than a lot of "vanilla" drugstore blends. I have smoked a lot of high end tobaccos in my days of pipe smoking and this rates up there with some high end aromatics. The flavors I pick up are sugar cookies with buttercream tints. It smells like a chocolate/vanilla cookie. There really is no bite unless you puff like a chimney. Its not heavily cased like most drugstore aromatics. Moist to the touch but not too moist. I recommend this blend to anyone with a sweet tooth and likes aromatics. It might not appeal to the english smokers. I honestly think people are just ashamed to admit they "like" a drugstore blend but I'm not afraid to admit it one bit.. this is pretty good stuff for a drugstore blend. I was actually very shocked.

(Do Not Be Afraid)...Whatever you have read on a negative level concerning this pipe tobacco blend disregard it. I have blended pioe tobacco for years, heck!!! it was my job for awhile, I have smoked many pipe tobacco blends over the years everything from Mac Baren to McClelland all the way to Dunhill's Balkan Sobranie to the bulk guys like Peter Stokebbye, Sutliff, Lane and Middleton, there are hundreds I could write out a huge list and go on and on. My point is Smokers Pride I mean what? really? when I worked for tobacco I passed up this stuff all the time and I used there black cavendish to blend with and that was about it. I judged it without even smoking it bases on its price and when I was younger if I didn't come in a can it was crap, boy was I wrong and for years I was missing out on a ton of great pipe tobacco but these days not so much, I am not like that anymore and I'm very open to multiple pipe tobaccos in many forms, variety is the spice of life for sure so don't sell yourself short and be a foolish pipe yuppy like I was at one time. SMOKERS PRIDE VANILLA CAVENDISH by Lane Limited is a really good pipe tobacco, the leaf is good quality giving a smooth smoke at a decent price. I was shocked when I smoked this because you read about this stuff like its smoking leaves from your backyard with a hint of vanilla, I mean common give me a break no its actually not. I was surprised when I smoked this that it actually taste alot like RLP-6 from Lane or even Captain Black (white pouch) serious pretty dang close to it. There are a few things that are different like for one its not as sweet and in depth but still robust and the vanilla is there but light and consistent really allowing the natural tobacco to shine through and it does AND it taste good. It does not taste or smell like chemicals that's a bunch of bull and its moist when freshly opened but not in a goopy way at all, it actually burns clean and smokes very well I was even surprised that it burned into a clean white ash. I enjoy this also because of the fact that the vanilla is not in your face strong and that the sweet comes from the tobaccos so its a really enjoyable smoke. It does not taste cheap and the stigma of this so called OTC phenomenon is not a reality but it being a great pipe tobacco blend is. The nicotine level is pretty low but still gets the job done and has a nice room note "thus sayith my wife" so all and all its well rounded and a good smoke period. I would recommend this to a novice pipe smoker because its gentle and taste good. I'm actually smoking this as I write this out along with a nice cup of black coffee and its very pleasent. Vanilla Cavendish is worth the money there is nothing wrong with it, I know pipe yupps just don't wanna admit they actually like a cheaper pipe tobacco blend because its not like its gross. So go buy some the stuff is actually fine. Make sure to read my review on Smokers Pride Rum as well. This is only my opinion and I write all this for your reading enjoyment because I know I enjoy reading others reviews, God bless all you fellow pipe smokers and God bless America, make sure to stand for your smoking rights and support your American tobacco farmers because they need it right now, until the next review take care and bye for now.

I find this blend quite pleasant. Flavor and strength are mild but refreshing. The room note is wonderful. Burns well for nice relaxing smoke. Only think i dont like much is the rough cut. This is a very course cut blend with huge pieces of tobacco throughout. Still I give this a solid 3 stars.

Okay...this is certainly not a gourmet, tight tin connoisseur's tobac. Is what it is, a mild, lightly cased vanilla aro blend whose best utility is as a mixer with a higher quality vanilla item, or fruity flavoured aro. Nor is it so marginal that reviewer Ricochet, below, also found it enjoyable with a cherry cavendish poly bulk blend. In this way a budgetary challenged smoker can stretch the pleasure and not have to deplete the debit card balance.

I've mixed this with E.A. Carey's "Light Vanilla" and "Argosy Match" from pipesandcigars.com and created a more pleasurable, sweeter smoke. This also mixes well with any of the Altadis or Milan vanilla blends. Paladin's "Black Cherry" or Admiral's Choice "Cherry Cavendish" by Dream Castle are also viable blending options.

Sure, smoking it solitary is a ** two star endeavor but I raise it to *** three stars as a worthy, cost effective if not frugal blending alternative. Happy hunting...

First off, I've been sitting on this for about a year. I bought it in the pouch version, then forgot I'd bought it. After sifting the twigs out of this stuff, I loaded it up in a cob, The General Model. The vanilla scent is very subtle after sitting for a year. It lit well, only needed to be lit once. Made copious amounts of smoke. The scent and flavor, were not unlike a milder version of Capt. Black White. No icky dottle remained, just a fine grey ash. I'll finish this pouch, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again.

I stopped in at a local "Tobacco Shop" today to get some pipe cleaners. Saw this sitting in a display bin right above the cleaners. That's where this goo should have remained. Vanilla Extract in a pouch. It was an impulse buy and I was an idiot.

Upon opening the bag, the scent of the thick gloopy vanilla casing Punch's you in the face. Some drying time doesn't hurt before firing this stuff up, as it is sticky to the touch. The vanilla flavouring tones out the tobbacos natural taste almost completely. For a cheap Cavendish blend, I find this to be quite enjoyable when sipped. No tongue bite to speak of. A trusty corn cob pipe and Bic lighter are appropriate to smoke this stuff with, when tinkering around the yard.
