Gauntleys - Latakia.
As a smoke on its own this is rancid but as a blending Latakia it's faultless.
The aroma from the bag isn't particularly pleasant. It's smoky but also slightly fishy; not too nice!
Although I don't like the aroma I like the moisture. It can be used from the pouch imminently without having to dry off.
I smoke a bowl or so neat for the purpose of this review and I can say, hand on heart, when smoked neat it's horrible. Although, I must admit, as a straight Latakia it's impeccable; it's not meant to be smoked on its own eh!
It wouldn't require much of this to give a blend a good smoky addition. Just a pinch would liven it up. Too much would give the smoke that fishy taste I found in the aroma.... it's a potent tobacco!
Nicotine is another potent area. As well as only needing a pinch to give your blend smokiness the same can be said for nicotine; add it carefully otherwise be prepared for a nicotine assault!
The room note is to strong when smoked unmixed. But again, it would be unfair to rate it as an unmixed tobacco as it's for blending.
Rating this is quite easy. As a smoke alone it's only worth one star but as a blending weed it's a definite four stars!
Highly recommended.
