Planta California Dream Orange
(4.00)
Notes: Was originally released as a limited edition in 2013, California Dream has now become a regular part of the Planta range. Sold in the U.K as either Century or Kentucky, this mild aromatic is ideal for those who enjoy a fragrant orange pipe tobacco. California dream is based on a dry blend of black cavendish and golden Virginia. This blend is topped off with a strong orange flavouring which comes over not only in the taste but also in the room note. Thanks to the lack of gloopy sugars and casings this tobacco packs easily and takes the flame easily too. A wonderful smoke with the taste of summer.

Planta - California Dream Orange.
I bought this out of curiosity more than actually wanting some. After the first few puffs I'm glad I let curiosity get the better of me! I wasn't exactly intrigued by the idea of orange in tobacco. I thought it would be to harsh a flavour. I was WRONG! The smell from the bag is invigorating, really fresh and lively.
Once lit the topping isn't like I had assumed it would be. It is clearly orange but not harsh or overly acidic. I think again the word 'fresh' is very apt! Although the topping is of a decent weight it still allows the tobacco tastes to come through. A great hay note from the Virginia with a calm and laid back touch from the Black Cavendish. The nicotine is mild in this one. It necessitates a large inhalation for recognition. That doesn't bother me much though as I don't smoke my pipe for N. The room note is quite orange like, not heavy but still easy to notice. The final good point is bite. I get none!
This has surprised me as I expected not to like it but after a few bowls I find it suits me well! This would be the perfect smoke on a hot summers day, four stars.
