I would not say that I am an aromatic smoker by any means, however, this stuff is fantastic. I finally pulled the trigger on some of this wonderful blend this past September and have resolved to by a full 8 ounces next September.

With the first light, I get an immediate flavor of molasses, vanilla, and a bit of light spice (nutmeg?). The bowl settles down quickly and will continue to give off the aforementioned flavors, but adds in some subtle nuances about midway through the bowl. I can, at times, get a hint of the pumpkin in the blend, but it is not consistent. This has to be the sweetest blend I 've smoked in a long time, but it is sweet in a good way. It's not a chemical taste at all.

The only caveat I would give is this: It needs a tremendous amount of drying time. I am one who likes a little more moisture to my tobacco that other people, but this one is soaking wet right from the store. I think I could ring the moisture out of this one! Once you get over that it's a great smoke.

The burley is nutty and molasses sweet. The black cavendish has some vanilla. The gold cavendish offers a little honey. There’s a very mild grass note from the Virginia. The tobacco flavor is mostly sublimated by the toppings, but they peek out a little more after the half way point. I tend to notice the nuttiness from the burley more than the other characteristics from the tobaccos. The pumpkin topping is mild, but rich, and has a nice support system from the light touch of cinnamon and a little nutmeg and all-spice. The vanilla topping is very mild. Hardly any nicotine to speak of, which is often the case for aromatics. Well balanced in every way, it burns cool, clean, and very creamy smooth to the finish with a consistent flavor that does not weaken. No dull or harsh spots, and it won’t bite. The tobacco is a little moist and burns a little slow, but I had no issues with the burn rate. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no goop or dottle.

Oh wow this one is utterly delicious. The bag note is extremely delicious - you will get that pumpkin pie sugary spice smell that will activate salivary glands. Upon further smelling, a pumpkin spice loaf comes to mind too - nuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg. But you also get a hint of caramelized marshmallows. Very nice moisture level - not dry - could tend to lean on the moister side. Lighting, you taste the same flavours that you smelled in the bag. So good. Very, very enjoyable smoke all the way through. Does not bite one bit. Room note is gorgeous. Highly highly recommend getting this limited edition fall blend from Straus. Also - their customer service is amazing. Thanks again!

Move on over Autumn Evening, we finally have a true Autumn blend.

If you're worried this is going to be too sweet, tasting of pumpkin pie with lots of nutmeg and cinnamon, don't. It's not like that -- though the tin note has a scent a bit like that.

What I'd compare this to rather is pumpkin loaf. Have you ever had pumpkin loaf? Basically that's where the pumpkin is mixed up and turned into a loaf that you cut like bread and has the moisture of a pound cake. Well if you try pumpkin loaf, it definitely has a pumpkin flavour, no doubt, but its not the same as having pumpkin pie. Less sweet and spices and more the flavour of the pumpkin with some white sugar sort of sweetness. (Another comparison would be pumpkin pie when served cold out of the fridge. You get a brown sugary sweetness with that wonderful pumpkin flavour, but again, mild on the spice notes.)

That's what this blend is like. And honestly, it really is unique, distinctive and utterly fantastic.

I don't smoke a lot of aromatics, and I'm pretty picky about the one's that I do. This one I'm going to add to my faovurites and look to pick up more. In fact, it has now become my top aromatic.

Well done Straus Tobacco!

Im finally trying this ever so talked about blend. Someone gifted me about 2-3 bowls worth a while ago. So i figured id try it now!

Im just going to come out and say it....im not impressed what so ever!!!! Blasphemy......yes, i know. How dare I!

I dont get any pumpkin from this. I get a sweet marshmellowie aroma with maybe a cinnamon back note, or something that wants to be a spice....thats for sure!

From the pouch, it did smell good and was pretty sticky. Took a flame very well like any aromatic does.

Room note smells pretty darn good. A spicy vanilla is what ill discribe it as. My friend is sitting next to me an says he can smell a little pumpkin.

I dont get much flavor out of this. Just a tad of sweetness here and there. It does make my pipe pretty hot. And thats with me puffing ever so slow trying to find some flavor.

Is this the worlds best aromatic? Hell no!!

Is it good? Yea....Sure!!

Will i buy some in the future? Hiiiiiiighly unlikely. I wouldnt want to take any away from all the crazed fans out there now would i?

Im sure i just ticked off alot of people with this review, but honestly.....i think this tobacco is all hype! Like i expected.

Im not disappointed, nor did i have any high expectations.

Its good. Ill leave at that.

Upon opening the bag you get the pumpkin spice note immediately. Upon further investigation I noticed a nutmeg and a hint of what seemed like vanilla (a cream scent). Smoking was wonderful. The bowl stayed lit throughout the entire smoke; that is after the initial toasting lite. The blend does not arrive mucky or overly moist like most aromatics. Additionally, the blend was free of tongue bite. The flavor was definitely a pumpkin spice and again with the nutmeg and possible vanilla. The flavor was noticeable, pleasant but not overwhelming. Overall, Sleepy Hollow was an outstanding smoke from an outstanding tobacconist.

I purchased eight ounces of Sleepy Hollow last year and cellared some of it. It comes in bulk as part of a seasonal fall blend and has seemed to age just fine. This tobacco is a creamy and rich aromatic perfect for those cool fall days and nights. It's smooth and balanced and the flavors of pumpkin, spice, and vanilla are accurate, but not overwhelming. It's perfect sipped and stays cool to the bottom of the bowl. I didn't find it necessary to provide any more than five minutes of dry time prior to smoking. It was even possible to smoke straight from the jar. I would highly recommend this blend. You won't be disappointed.

An excellent aromatic. Perfectly flavored,. A great smoke that only gets better as it winds down the bowl. No artificial effect. This is a truly balanced aromatic and has quickly become a favorite among my aromatics. A sweet note, a clean burn, and no goop with this one. A perfect aro blend in my opinion. An absolutely great smoke to enjoy among others.

I am fortunate to be able to drive down the road any given Autumn day and pick up a few ounces of this beautiful blend (provided it us not sold out). More than a few pipe makers/collectors from around the country that I follow on Instagram post themselves around this time of year (Fall) enjoying Sleepy Hollow - and each time I see this - I am filled with a sense of civic pride. The goofy stigma some fellows hold of aromatics as being in someway inferior to English blends seems to melt away when trying this magically delicious and wildly popular offering from Straus. Think of it as a "crossover blend"? Just save some for me, K?

I was in on the first batch of this season and have been enjoying it ever since It arrived in my mailbox. When I first received the package from Straus and opened the bag, I was greeted with the smell of pumpkin, vanilla, and spice. All the smells co mingle together so well they are hard to pick out individually and form a creamy caramel type tin note as they play together. The tobacco is on the moist side, and stickier than I was expecting. I dry mine out for 30 minutes or so before smoking. The sticky casing of Sleepy Hollow has not been a problem at all. The tobacco performs perfectly in every pipe I've smoked it in, burning to fine ash. The flavor is very good, almost caramel/marshmallow like with good tobacco flavor that stays throughout the bowl. Burns extremely cool without a hint of bite. Room note is fantastic and wife approved. This is a well put together blend and a great smoke, exactly what Ive been searching for, as my social fall/Halloween blend.

I received my fall aromatic order and I have a great line up of aromatics in store for the fall. I have a Boswell's line (5) along with my Lane 1Q. Thought it couldn't get much better for the months ahead - but it did. I called Straus and ordered up a pound of Sleepy Hollow and all I can say is wow. This is some seriously good stuff. The smell upon opening the bag let's you know you are in for something special. A great balance of sweetness and spices that let's you know fall is near. Well, when you light it up it only gets better. A great smooth well balanced smoke that doesn't have an artifical effect. Just creamy goodness as the tobacco pulls through. This has me second guessing my rating system because this tobacco is simply that good. If you don't like this one, check your pipe. If it's not the pipe, something may be wrong with you lol. It really is that good. If you are looking for a great fall smoke that others will enjoy while you devour several bowls, I think this is it. There's good, very good, and then there's this as far as aromatics go. Great blend!
