McCranie's First Light
(3.43)
A style of Virginia seldom seen in America. A red cake, fully-rubbed, matured Virginia that is exceptionally soft, and carefully aged to bring out the natural sweetness.

McClelland blend by tobacco aroma. As has been stated, see the 5100 reviews for this blend.
Decent smoke, and nice looking strands of sandy brown tobacco.

My First Light has been in a Mason jar for nearly a decade and it has gone from red to dark brown. The Virginia taste is not at all grassy, but more of the naturally sweet notes you get from a quality Red. The aging has certainly provided its pleasures as the ripeness of the high sugar content leaf has left its mark. A truly wonderful smoke. Not a lot of depth or strength, but a soft caress of quality sweet Virginia.

It has a rich, ripe dark fruit red Virginia taste with light spice and some earth. There are some dried fruit notes, which is the only complexity it has besides the "vinegar" smell, which isn't in the actual smoke. Has a mild nic-hit. Won't bite or get harsh. Burns cool, clean and a little slow with a very smooth, consistent flavor, though it leaves a little moisture at the finish. Needs a few relights, and can be an all day smoke. When it takes its glasses off in a phone booth, it becomes McClellands' 5100 Red Cake.

See review for 5100. It is identical, which is a common tobacco shop practice.

This is certainly McClellands #5100. Rich and toasty- if you want some better reviews- look there.

Also noticed this blend wasn't reviewed as of yet. For those who may not know, this is actually McClelland #5100, another bulk blend readily available at many shoppes by another name. See the numerous reviews for #5100.
