Blend of selected sweet Virginia leaf matured to the perfect grade of mildness and light aromatic taste.
Notes: 11/10/14: Industry source states that the original Bjarne tobaccos were a tribute to Bjarne Nielsen and that, although they are still being produced, they are for some "inexplicable reason" not available outside Germany.
I really was smitten with Bjarne's Flake De Lux, so, I figured it would be smart of me to try The Exclusive One. Bad move.
Newman's review says it all for me except for one addition; I couldn't get a nicotine fix with this blend if I puffed every second of every day for a month. And, with this blend, that would kill my tongue due to the heat.
Dry in the tin, and has some potential to bite. Sipped, it is pleasant enough, in that mild Danish kind of way. A good deal, neat "paint can," but I don't think I'll stock up on it. Hardly exclusive! Really, I'd call it a 2 1/2, but it is sort of ordinary, and the tin dryness doesn't help...
This purple 100 gram tin was purchased in Rochester NY for $15.10..not a bad price considering the crappy taxes applied here. Anyway, this tin has a nicely fitting top that will keep the blend at the moisture level at which it came, and it was perfectly humidified.
This VA is mostly a ribbon cut with some small pieces of pressed flake mixed together. It smelled great in the tin but smelled even better lit...The aroma was wonderful. I didn't notice any funny tastes that I have experienced with other aromatics and the taste was good ol' nutty/hay-like virginia. Surprisingly, this blend did not bite me save once upon initial light-up. It smoked cooly and was a joy to smoke. I didin't notice much of a nicotine punch, but thats ok with me...I can have a few bowls and feel satisfied without being nauseated by some other VAs. In fact, it left a clean, light flavor on my palate.
Nice little find, much, much better than MacBaren's offerings, which is what I was looking at before the store clerk clued me into this tin...thanks pal.
2 weeks after first smoke=Addendum=This has turned into a real scorcher and I have been puffing it very slowly...too damn bad this is some tasty stuff. If I can't smoke it without getting burned the flavor doesn't matter...Zero Stars.
Very dry out of the tin. This was hard to keep lit without excessive puffing and then it smoked extremely hot -- a real tongue biter. Simply not enjoyable.
I found this tin to be a pleasant change from the rather strong flakes that I usually smoke. The tin I purchased looked to be quite old and the moisture content was perfect for me. It still has some of that "Danish" Aromatic taste (that I associate with MacBaren products), but not so much as to overwhelm a tasty Virginia tobacco. It does burn fairly quickly though so beware of possible tongue-bite.
This is an excellent blends Virginias with a sweet taste. I do find it does smoke quickly, and generally leaving me not completely satisfied. Most likely I may buy another can for those sudden urges of a quick smoke in the late evening hours
This is predominantly a ribbon cut of light VAs with some darker curly cuts and rubbed out pressed VAs intermixed. From the tin, it was extremely dry and burned much too hot for my taste with a terrible bite. For a premium, expensive tobacco, it was a disappointment.
