Predominately Virginia leaf from Brazil, Zimbabwe, and Malawi (86%) but with the addition of sun-cured Malawi (10%) to add sweetness, strength and to cool the smoke and Malawi Burley (4%) to add body and to "carry the flavor" in addition to its cooling and strength qualities.

A background flavor of almond is enhanced with the addition of fruit, vanilla, and the special 'Lakeland style' flavors to give this tobacco its distinctive aroma and taste.

The only differences between this and the flake version is that this burns at a more reasonable pace, and is very slightly less sweet. Otherwise, i can’t tell a difference, therefore I’m repeating this review here with a couple of changes. The Virginias are floral, earthy, dark fruit and citrus sweet with a little grass, and are the dominant tobaccos. The burleys are very nutty, earthy sweet in a continual support role. The almond enhancement mildly adds some complexity to the deep fruity tropical topping. The vanilla gently reminds you it’s there, while the rum gently underscores the other aspects of the tobacco. The Lakeland essence is very obvious without drowning out the other toppings, though all the flavor additions sublimate the tobaccos to some extent. There are stronger Lakeland blends than this, and it may be that the other sweet additions temper it just a little. I don’t know if this is what I’d pick for an entry level Lakeland smoker, but there are lighter ones to start with, though the sweet level may be the very thing to hook a Lakeland newbie. It will ghost a pipe and a meer, too. Has a slightly more than mild nic-hit. The strength and taste is medium. The flavorings and tobaccos meld well to create a cool, clean, creamy consistent taste from start to finish. No harsh or weak spots. Burns at a moderate pace if given a slight dry time. Leaves very little moisture in the bowl. Needs some relights. The lingering sweet after taste is very pleasant as is the room note. Not an all day smoke.

Ennerdale has a lot of strength thanks to the addition of 10% Malawi leaf. I love its sweetness and strength in this blend. Ennerdale, typical of a lot of G&H tobaccos, has some natural flavoring added that doesn't necessarily sweeten up the blend much, but really presents a unique presentation to each puff. Good stuff but not for the faint of heart.

Gawith Hoggarth - Ennerdale Mixture.

Personally I'd describe this as a broken flake, in the pouch there are a good few larger pieces of flake. There is a slightly fruity/floral aroma coming from the mix, not at all aromatic smelling but it does seem to have had a slight addition to it.

The moistness is good so mine is easy to light up. The smoke I find enjoyable, the slightly aromatic presence I was expecting has all but disappeared. There is a VERY delicate fruity note there but I don't feel clobbered by false flavour. The two tobaccos are impeccably weighted. There is the wonderful Virginia which isn't too much as to cancel out the Burley. The nicotine is easy to notice, not strong but by no means weak.

I had no expectations for this but am glad I bought some, highly recommended.

I remember the first time I smelled Ennerdale Flake and it was an epiphany moment for me. I could have happily laid down and buried myself in it. Intensely floral and delicious. However the Ennerdale mix is IMHO not in the same league. Jar note is sweet, slightly almond with a hint of liquor. Loaded my pipe and was strikingly disappointed. This is not the Ennerdale I know and love, it hasn't even ghosted my pipe! Smoke is okay, slightly nutty with a vague almond whiff in the first 3rd of the pipe. I don't think I'll buy again as it's not what I expected at all. I didn't even get a hit of the Lakeland sauce. I've cellared it until I find something to make it interesting 4/10

A strong Virginia and burly blend with a floral perfume topping. It’s kind of like a block mason wearing a muumuu. I think I like it (the tobacco, not the guy in the muumuu, not that there’s anything wrong with that).

After 10 years of pipe smoking, I finally decided to try a blend with a Lakeland topping. I was always scared off by the “old lady” aroma descriptions, but you have to try new things once in awhile (again, I’m talking about the tobacco, not the guy...).

The tobaccos are very rich, and the topping lightens up what would otherwise be a heavy blend. There is plenty of nicotine, but I can easily finish a bowl without the hiccups (niccups?). This would never be a daily smoke for me, but it’s a welcome change of pace.

This tflake tobacco is a different experience.when you crack the tin a really strong almond flavour comes out.after rubbing it out you should leave this to dry out a bit.it lights nice burns good without burning the pipe as most aromatics.it has nutty flavour but the topping dominates everything.my advise is to go slow relax and enjoy.it is a mdium nicotine with very strong aroma so if you are not in strong aroma blends don't buy it.leaves proper moist at the end of the bowl .not a blend to start your day.better smoke it late at the afternoon it might get you dizzy at the morning hours.

This one is good. opening the tin, a perfume shop inside a flower garden greeted me. Flower, sweet fruits (did I smell grape juice???), The broken flakes look yummy, deliciously light brown.

I was surprised, that the baccy is not that wet, considering its a Gawith. Could not wait with the drying, I stuffed my pipe. Charred easily. Fully burning on my second light.

Sweet smoke filled the room and my senses. The aroma now changes from a floral to a marzipan cake. The almond, that was hiding in the tin, now is present. For me, the nutty burly was more obvious, then the Virginia and it wonderfully combined with the light vanilla and almond aroma.

Wont bite and gives a cool smoke, just don't push it, or else it will retaliate with hot hot smoke. Burns evenly and leaves some moisture in the pipe, when smoked wet.

Keep a pipe cleaner ready if you are not using a filtered pipe. It comes handy when moisture builds up. If you don't rush and relax, it awards you with a pleasant and unique smoking experience.

UPDATE: I smoked this in my clay churchwarden yesterday. It enhanced the flavor even more.

Medium Strong Medium to Full Pleasant to Tolerable

This to me is my gold standard blend.

A blend where the flavours, strength and burn rate are absolute perfection.

This is quite a stout Virginia burley flake with a very busy flavour profile. Although it is busy the strength nor flavour never overwhelm. The main thing I get I'd a full on blast of soapy floralness, along with almond and rum....touch of vanilla as well.

To me this is a fantastic piece of British tobacco blending. It makes for a beautiful smoke and one where the room note will get you some compliments.

Granted the smoke it pumps out is thick do maybe one for outdoors of you are around non smokers.

A short review but this is a tobacco where it doesn't need fancy descriptions it can do it's own talking and it is one I always have in stock.

It is one of few reasons I am thankful to live in Britain. The land where ennerdale is plentiful.

I like Ennerdale mixture, it's not too strong, full of flavour and a good alternative to my favourite, strong, tobaccos. I could easily smoke this all day long and when I have I can still taste it the following day, (even after brushing my teeth twice).
The room note is very pleasant and if I was allowed to smoke in the house I think it could well become my number 1 smoke, mainly because my wife 'quite likes' the smell compared to some of my other favourites.

I bought this one to see how it would compare to the full flake. I wasn't surprised when the wafts of cherry came flooding out of the packet, even if it was less sweet than the flake. The packing and lighting are equally as easy. The smoke is a little different, maintaining the cherry flavour for longer and providing a bit more kick from the Vitamin N. On the whole then, just as big a pleasure to smoke as the flake but different enough to keep both in my rotation. Whether or not the flake would taste the same if rubbed out and left in a jar for a week I don't know, but worth a try? Maybe.

Package note of soapy tangy fruit. Tobacco is a broken flake of marbled brown, tan and dark brown. Moisture content is good. Some pipe smokers will want to dry it a bit. Flakes rub out with a little effort. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. Flavoring is medium, with notes of floral, almond, rum, citrus, and vanilla. The flavoring begins strong and drops back to the middle ground where it remains. I couldn't detect any rum. Taste is medium to full and very consistent, with notes of floral, mild vanilla nutty, spices, lemon grass, orange peel/zest, herbal hay, toast, earthy, very woody, savory, tangy citrus, a sweet nutty and floral background note, and a peppery retro. Flavoring is leading with Virginia and Burley supporting. Room note is tolerable to strong, and aftertaste is great.

Dryed it out on a hot day. Thought I'd done enough. Still burnt wet with several relights. However, it is good tobacco, mild, not harsh. I like inhaling at the start of a bowl and here there is no strong nic hit, so you can walk about, do manual tasks, no worries. The flavour is delightful, a mixture of delicate florals and fruit. I have put it back in the jar for further drying and expect an improved burn.
