HU Tobacco Imagine
(3.25)
"Imagine there’s no heaven"... Who wouldn‘t know John Lennon‘s melancholic and beautiful ballad “Imagine“. John embedded his powerful lyrics in a modest musical arrangement, creating an eternal milestone in history of music. Just as honest and powerful, but at the same time airy and lively – that‘s Imagine broken flake. A finely assorted mix of different, slightly sweet Virginia grades is combined to create our very expressive, medium strong ready rubbed flake. A subtle citrus flavor is characteristic of this blend, putting the finishing touch on it. This is a tobacco blend for high-spirited and dreamy moments in life. …"No hell below us, above us only sky" (John Lennon )

I have smoked Imagine after it aired for an half hour and yes,is an aromatic but not too flavoured. It has a subtle character, insinuating and remain the same (a slight increase in strenght during the smoking occur)until the end. As with others Hans blends, what strike me is the quality of tobacco used, the ease in smoking and the fact that never, even puffing hard, you will be bitten. Imagine is a blend that is reminiscent of better times(in every sense), when everything was easier, even to dream. I do not get very much the Perique, but the mixture is very well balanced, creamy and fresh.
3.5 Stars.
A very nice surprise, added to my wishlist.
(I have sampled Imagine thank to Hans!)

Hans at HU-Tobacco has made a fairly wide range of Virginia/Perique flakes and Imagine is yet another to add to the list. Imagine is a solid broken flake VaPer that needs a small amount of dry time. There is a depth to this tobacco that comes from the blending of several Virginias. I find it somewhat sweet and it should age wonderfully. There is an extremely light topping on Imagine that comes through in the pouch scent and in the smoke, but by no means is it an aromatic. Lovers of VaPers with a bit of strength will be attracted to Imagine. Recommended.

This is a good, but not great VaPer. It has that great sweet and spicy flavor you would expect in a high quality VaPer, but my biggest knock on this blend is that it really does not figure prominently enough until you reach the last third of the bowl and then its gone.
It seems like the last third of most tobaccos are the best third, but VaPer blends like Escudo and St. James Flake tend to give a great sensation of sweet and spicy from the moment you light up until the end; however, those are both four star blends IMO, so maybe an unfair comparison.
This one smokes fine, packs nice for a ribbon cut and all around performs well, so it is a three star blend. However, if you are an American, I would say for practicality sake, this should be a two or maybe a one star as this is just not special enough to go through the effort or expense. If you are ordering from HU, get some Indaba and Director's Cut and pass this one by. Oh, and don't forget to throw in some Sunset for an incredible straight va. 😉

The Virginias offer tart and tangy citrus, grass, and a few earth and wood notes as the lead components. The perique is sweetly plumy and lightly spicy, and is a minor player in the game. I notice a very light sweet topping, though it does not detract from the natural flavors of the ingredients. The Virginias are slightly fermented, indicating they have a little age on them. The nic-hit is in the center of mild to medium. The strength and taste levels barely reach the medium mark. No chance of bite or harshness is present. It’s a little moist in the tin, so you may want to dry it a mite, but not so much that you’ll lose some flavor. It’s smooth, burns slow, even, cool, clean and smooth with a very consistent sweet and spicy taste. Requires few relights for a flake, and leaves just a light amount of moisture in the bowl. Has a short lived, pleasant after taste and room note. Can be an all day smoke.
