Havanezas 1864
(3.00)
Havanezas 1864 pipe tobacco is a traditional english blend, that includes Virginia (Golden, Orange and Dark) mixed with Black Cavendish and a high percentage of Latakia. This sophisticated mixture, dark coloured, is especially appreciated by smokers who like dense aromas of traditional pipe tobaccos, strong, richly structured, and slightly spiced.

I bought this pouch because I wanted to try a Portuguese pipe tobacco before I left the country. I found out it was made in Germany though.
They actually have another blend called 1960 which is supposed to have VA and KY, but instead I bought this one, since it has been a long time I don't taste anything with Latakia.
The price is quite high for a 50 g pouch (12 euros!).
The smell from the pouch has strong Latakia hints which is very pleasant, some hints of spice and clove like perfumes.
The smoke is very nice and even, no tongue bite, very very nice tobacco. Strong Nicotine hit as well.
I did not put it as highly recommended because of the price; it is really absurd for a supposedly national product!

Solid Latakia blend. Seems, nonetheless, to lack "spirit" or "body" to a certain extent. It is however an extremely pleasurable traditional english mixture, which I would certainly recommend to any latakia "english" smoker. Very agreeable to the palate. This blend is made in honour, and for, Lisbon's legendary tobacconist shop: "Casa Havaneza".
