Black Cherry is another of Blatter & Blatter's bulk blends. Fine ribbon cut virginia and bits and pieces of black Cavendish. The pouch aroma is definitely black cherry, chemically, but gently so. This baccy is extremely moist and needs plenty of time to dry before it's suitable for loading into a pipe.
Once aired out and carefully loaded into a pipe, this blend lights easily and stays lit. Very slow, but a bit hot burning and mild with a nice, black cherry flavour, but draw too hard and that flavouring has a tendency to nip at the sides of my tongue, but this applies to most flavoured tobaccos in my opinion.
The room note is a nice black cherry aroma but not overpowering. I especially liked this blend mixed 50/50 with Capt'n Black white pouch. The mix of vanilla and black cherry is a very nice smoke and gives the taste and room note more dimension.
I would recommend this as a "change of mood" blend....when you want to smoke something out of your usual rotation. But it is an excellent accoutrement to Capt'n Black of any colour, I'm sure. Great with a cup of coffee either way. If you smoke for the aroma, this will not disappoint.
