Sterling Tobacco Co Royal London Dock
(2.80)
Royal London Dock (Light English) Inspired by an old English blend Royal London Dock contains black cavendish, burleys, perique, latakia and Orientals. Stronger than a medium blend with an earthy and full taste on the palate. The tobacco smells great and has a really nice flavor to it. This is a nice blend excellent tones, not overwhelming.

The sugary black cavendish is nearly the predominant flavor, though not in an unpleasant manner, and has little vanilla. The spice and raisin perique and dry, sweet and sour Orientals are faintly noticeable, though a little more so at the half way point. The burley is sweet and a little nutty, and plays an important role. The Cyprian latakia is also light, sweet, woody and smoky as a supporting player. The sweet rum very mildly tones down the tobaccos. This is mostly an aromatic English with a rather soft, comfortable consistent taste. Burns at a reasonable pace, cool, and cool with few relights and hardly any moisture. Not quite an all day smoke, but blended for repeat performances during the day and night.

This is one of my favorite blends by Jack Peterson. Albeit it should be listed under the 1776 label - his other brand he carries.
In the pouch you have almost a plum pudding aroma with a hint of latakia spiciness.
The blend itself is outstanding. I love rum in tobacco blends - and this is the finest Rum Blend I have ever smoked. Perfect balance and structure. The Plum pudding tastes comes through with a delightful spiciness. The Latakia is present - but not overwhelming. Overall there is a lovely complexity - that reveals itself with every puff.
For English Lovers - its all there. Aromatic lovers might want to give this a try. Highly Recommended.

Pleasant but very mild taste, with none of the various components up-stage.
The cut is various, from thin ribbons to big hard lumps.
Burns well to a fine ash. No trouble keeping it lit.
Advertized components are "black cavendish, burleys, perique, latakia and Orientals." The black cavendish predominates, and keeps everything else in the background. Do I detect a bit of vanilla? Every now and then a puff of burley comes through.
It will not be my all-day smoke, but it might suit someone else for that.

This is a blend that was not good but was not bad. In the end the taste is pretty muted, and none of the components really stick out. Kind of boring really.
The tobacco comes at a great moisture level, and I can tell by dealing with the owner of the company he is a stand up guy that takes a lot of pride in his product. I would not hesitate to purchase from this blender again.
That being said this tobacco is pretty middle of the road all the way through the bowl. All the components are there, but nothing really shines. Its a high quality product, just not a taste I would be excited to experience again. As always your mileage may vary.

Light English? Aromatic English? I cant decide, I just know that this is one fine English blend that never loses my interest. I love the smokiness of the blend, lots of smoke like any proper English and the smoky room note is pleasant as well. Not only did I have a great English blend, I had an English blend with something more. Something sweet was added that I really cant identify and whatever it is ,it is not overpowering nor do I think it was added to mask an English blend but to enhance an English blend. Overall this is something I would smoke a few days a week and have multiple bowls of it those days.
