I think I'm getting tired of aromatics. I smoked a tin of Late Night a year ago and really liked it. Yet recently breaking open a tin from the same batch, it didn't yield the same pleasure. I don't believe the blend changed (though the tin napped for about an extra year), so I must have. I also found it bitier than the first time. Even taking Late Night slow, it wanted to nibble away at my tongue. Maybe you know the feeling... the bowl is nice and cool, not being smoked too hot, but the smoke nonetheless feels hot on the tongue. It's a chemical thing but was less of a problem a year ago, interestingly.
The taste is fine. I don't really notice the whiskey, but the honey is very present. I have another honeyed aromatic that also wants to gnaw at my tongue, so I suspect the culprit is the honey flavoring. No more of those for me! I'll finish the tin, but not joyfully, although dedicated aro smokers probably would love it. In fact, I'll probably use it in a mix, which is what I routinely do with such blends. I mean, it is good tobacco, after all. I have some Gordon Pym I'm head-scratching over and am wondering how they would marry up. Yum.
