The grassy, lightly citrusy Virginia is the base of the blend. The burley is lightly molasses sweet with a very slight nutty note, and is the more obvious component, though the aspects of both varietals are muted by being processed in the cavendish style. The fruit toppings also sublimate the tobaccos with the sweet and sour mango taking the lead over the other tropical fruits (I’m sure pineapple is one of them). Has very little nicotine. Won't bite or get harsh. Burns clean and fairly cool at a reasonable pace with a slightly inconsistent flavor as you lose just a little topping by the finish. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and needs an average number of relights. The after taste is slightly sour and bitter. An all day smoke.

I purchased this as part of a Sampler pack. Out of the pouch it emits a sweet, fruity aroma. It stays lit and smokes dry with virtually no tongue-bite. With me, at least, the first few puffs leave a kind of fruity aftertaste, but within the first couple of minutes, this sensation seems to go away, leaving a very pleasant, sweet taste and aroma. To me it is somewhat reminiscent of the "Orange Blossom" blend I received in a sampler from Thompson Cigar Co., many years ago.
This is a very good tobacco if you lean toward the more fruity aromatics.

I purchased Tropical Splendor from Abenaki's five blend, 2 oz. poly bag sampler offer. I'm convinced its one of their outstanding offerings, or that of any tropical flavoured tobacco I've ever experienced, especially if you are into sweet casing aromatics. This is a light, summertime, warm weather mixture and one you'd probably be really comfortable taking along on a cruise to the Caribbean, Hawaii or Equatorial climes.
The essence of mimosa, papaya, passion fruit and the succulence of fresh mangos emits from every puff - no exaggeration. The fresh ribbon cut smells exquisitely out of the pouch and the tobac smokes cool and dry, stays lit, closing with a highly pleasant after taste.
Smoked this indoors and out in my Baraccini briar and simple Missouri Legend bent cob and got the same results - pure sweetness and pleasure down to the gray ash quick. Many positive comments from those within olfactory range. Next order is for 16 ozs. Highly recommended.
