Milan Tobacconists Hillman
(3.33)
A union of our 401 Burley Mixture and Midnight - a dark, fire-cured mix of Burley and vanilla fragrance. Enjoyed by those around you for its gentle aroma.
Notes: Hillman is a blending of traditional burleys, ribbon and flake cut Virginias, black toasted cavendish, a touch of perique, and a smidge of two vanilla cavendish tobaccos. You'll enjoy a rich, medium-bodied smoke with notes of toasted almonds, hickory, gentle spice, and a pleasant aroma. Hillman has stood the test of time for a reason.

The smoke is full and smooth and kind of creamy. Makes the room smell warm and comforting. If I could make a blanket out of the smoke I would, and it would be awesome.

As this is a combination of Milan’s 401 Burley Mixture and Midnight, some of the components have subtle influence, like the barely detectable spice and raisin from the perique. The grassy, citrusy Virginia has a minor say while the vanilla from the topping and black cavendish are more obvious, though mostly in the mild range, and do not overly sublimate the tobaccos. The burley is toasty, nutty, earthy with spice and a touch of molasses, and is noticeable in every puff. It's the most important ingredient in the blend. The nic-hit is just part the mild threshold. Well balanced with some complexity, it burns at a regular pace, cool and clean with a consistent, spicy sweet, mildly smooth and creamy flavor. Won’t bite or get harsh, but the spice will tingle your tongue a little, so I suggest a slow puffing cadence. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires few relights. The spicy sweetness lingers in the after taste. I’d say this is not quite an all day smoke, but one that you could easily revisit during your waking hours.

Hillman is truly a unique tobacco. If not for the Latakia, it would probably be classified as an aromatic. As it is, it takes a light well, and reuires just a few relights. There is no bite or harshness to speak of. A great tobacco for anyone to enjoy both day and night.
