Peretti 1072
(3.50)
In honor of their 140th anniversary, Peretti is pleased to introduce their newest Burley "1072." An exquisite Burley blend "1072" has a deep, rich taste. Delicious and profoundly satisfying.
Notes: Technically an aromatic burley, 1072 has a light sweetness and a clean finish. Added Virginia provides an undertone to the burley and reveals a unique taste sensation. 1072 is of medium body and offers a stellar introduction into the world of burley.

The burleys are toasty, earthy, woody, very nutty with some molasses, and are the dominant component. The Turkish is woody, earthy, very lightly floral, slightly spicy and sour, and is just above being a condiment. The Cyprian Latakia is a very minor player, adding a smokey, woody, earthy, musty push to the blend that isn’t always obvious to the taste buds. The topping appears to have a lightly applied rum in it. Has a slight rough edge once in a while, but no harsh spots even if you push it. Most of the time, it’s smooth. Won’t bite. The strength is close to the center of mild to medium, while the taste falls a slot short of the medium mark. Has a mild nic-hit. Burns cool and clean at a moderate, even pace with a very consistent, mildly sweet and savory flavor. The sweet level is mild as the woody, nutty, toasty quality is more prominent. Doesn’t require many relights, and leaves very little moisture in the bottom of the bowl. Has a pleasant, short lived after taste and a decent room note. An all day smoke.

I enjoyed this the best of all Peretti Burley Blends. It reminds me of their 333 with the Belmont dressing applied. I called Steve and he said that there was Turkish and Latakia added to the mix. It burns cool and dry. It has a rich NATURAL tobacco flavor like the 333 plus the orientals. I enjoyed it. A good change of pace for the English smoker. Flake and Burley smokers will like it also. Not for the aromatic crowd at all. 3 of 4 stars.

This is a nice "American" blend that doesn't over do it with burley flavor. The taste is smooth and nutty with a slight sweetness and it doesn't become overbearing. Overall the taste is not complex though I swear I detect a whiff of latakia now and again. Can't say I detected a maple-bacon flavor. I heartedly agree this is a nice change of pace for an English blend fan

I really enjoy this one early in the morning. Smooth with a nice burley flavor. But there are other things that are subtle going on that overall combine to make a highly enjoyable smoke

I tried an ounce of this and it was just like they say Rich and satisfying, this is definitely true for 1072. Steve told me they ran out of this but not sure if he was just saying that or not, too bad because I really like this one. Smells like Maple Bacon.

No other burley I've had compares to this one. It's nutty but also with a leathery, natural sweetness. LJP has made me one happy pipe smoker.
