The black cavendish offers some brown sugar. The molasses, earth, wood, and nuts from the burley is hardly noticeable, and the Virginia almost disappears, except for the mildest grass note. You’ll taste the caramel and vanilla toppings more than the honey. It also has a mild buttery sweetness. The very smooth, deeply rich flavor is consistent to the finish with the vanilla mostly taking center stage. The strength is mild, while the taste is just past the center of mild to medium. Hardly has any nicotine. No chance of bite or harshness. Needs a little dry time. Burns cool, clean and a little slow. Requires some relights, and leaves moisture in the bowl, especially if you’re a wet smoker. The after taste very pleasantly lingers, and the room note will make most people happy. An all day smoke.

MOLTO DOLCE.......just wanted to get your attention, and make a point. If you want a less expensive alternative to Molto Dolce, for which I have been searching.......this is it!

All the qualities of Molto Dolce, but ratcheted down a tad bit in richness. Not greasy, no gunk. Just needs to be dried out for a day or two. Burns straight down to the ash. Almost, the same casing, but absolutely no bite, unless you smoke like a train.

If you are a non-aro person, same advice as with Molto Dolce......stay the heck away, and smoke pine needles and peat bogs, with a bit of Oriental for taste.

For those of us who prefer creaminess and sweetness in the mouth, olfactory bliss, and wonderful room note, this will do it.

Very underestimated and for an inexpensive blend.

Fans of ultra sweet, non tobacco tasting tobacco will absolutely go bonkers over this Altadis offering. My local pipe club is sent a batch of Altadis' "Blend of the Month" each month (which we thank Altadis for doing), and this Cream Brulee was on the menu some months back.

A sopping wet blend out of the pouch, don't bother trying to dry it out because rumor has it (a rumor I am starting), that Cream Brulee is used to put out forest fires. Even though drenched, it burns mostly cool and tastes heavily of, well, Cream Brulee.

Please do smoke this blend in a pipe dedicated to aromatics as the "Ghost" of Cream Brulee will haunt whatever you smoke it in.

I requested this to be added to the review board. This is my #1 all time favorite tobacco. This tobacco I first tried as a sample back in 2006 at Pipes Unlimited and I have been hooked since. This is one of the best best tasting, best burning, best overall performance of a tobacco that I have ever had! This is one of those greasy type cuts of tobacco that is cased with flavor throughtout the whole bowl. From the first light which is a show all in itself to the last puff, it a winner! Creme Brulee is very much a dessert tobacco as well as a early morning tobacco which I smoke very early ever Saturday and Sunday Morning. The roomnote is very pleasant and sure to please the wife! This is a tobacco that I keep on hand fully stocked in my humidor at all times. If I had to choose just one tobacco to smoke the rest of my days. Creme Brulee would be it! I would highly recommend getting some for the upcoming Holidays! Enjoy this blend and Happy Holidays to all and to all a good ripper! MozzMann -08

This may be the wettest Altadis blend I've tried , which Is odd because their blends aren't wet like some poo pooers say . Does it gurgle and sizzle a little ? .. yup . Do I care ? .. Nope ! This stuff is so damn good tasting and smelling ..... it's crazy ! Anyone that likes Aros , especially one that are fully flavored , will dig this . I go through one pipe cleaner per bowl .. no big deal . The payoff is worth the one pipe cleaner . This is a dessert Aro smoke .. sweet and flavor . This is a blend that is carried at many a B&M . It's shame that it's wet for two reasons .. It probably doesn't have to be and , as widely distributed as this blend is , is probably responsible for the people who rag on aromatics as all being wet , which is in no way true .

The flavor is mostly vanilla, due to the casing and cavendish together. There is some tartness in there that comes in and out, doing a fair job approximating the dessert. There is some honey flavor over the course of the bowl. The caramel dances in and out; it seems like caramel and honey swap roles in prominence. There is an overall buttery quality to the smoke.

Sutliff - Crème Brulee.

I was going to post this yesterday but my computer wouldn't let the review save. So here's my second attempt!

Just opening the pouch lets out a paroxysm of 'I'm heavily cased'! Something else congruent with a heavy aro' is the moisture. It's soaked!

The smoke's sweet, very sweet. Behind the honey and caramel is a flavour similar to a custard slice. Don't expect much from the Burley and Virginia, these don't play the game, the vanilla black Cavendish rules the roost. I find the smoke's temperature cool and I get not one spot of bite.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: good.

Crème Brulee? My kind of aromatic. Highly recommended:

Had a fishing buddy bring me a pretty good size load (8 ounces easy) and said a drinking buddy of his didn't care for it too much and maybe I'd like it. Well OK... I smoke the Altadis J4 mild burley quite often and I enjoy it very much so lets see what Altadis put in this blend. Off I go to pipe reviews to check it out.

Burley, Black cavendish, virginia. sounds like the beginings a basic Aromatic to me even though there are blend out there like this that are not.

Flavoring: Vanilla, Caramel, Honey.

I'm long winded... so shoot me.

In the bag is smelled wonderfully sweet , moist and breakfast like. Walk into a resturant making pancakes and waffles and sausage with all that maple syrup being poured all over the place....... that kind of smell. No matter how NOT HUNGRY you are, you're up for a plate of whatever the guy in booth #1 is having.

MOIST MOIST MOIST! I rook a good handfull out and lay'd it on a dinner plate for examination. I can't believe how moist this is. I try to compress a handful just to see if it would ball up which it wouldn't. My hand was slick from handleing it too. I took my nose to hand routine to be a nice experience. Sometimes i do this next part with a new toby to get a feel for how it would taste in a bowl. This often works. I licked my hand a tad bit. Ok that was tasty.. it warranted a bowl now. So I loaded up my Savinelli starter with e fresh balsa filter. (cake free as I keep it pretty clean)

It lit up on first lite. Not blillowing smoke. A nice lite cool type. Stayed lit too. As I puffed I waited for some flavor to come through. Its very mild indeed. Eventually after about 10 puffs in came through. Definatley vanilla custard with a caramel topping.

But it was missing something I really wanted to be there. There is no Toby flavor comming through at all. Time for the next text.

Puff the majic dragon: Lets heat this stuff up real good. I held that lighter there for a good 5 puffs and billowed the smoke. Once I removed the lighter holding the last puff in my mouth so I could let it settle on my tongue and slowly release it I looked down and the toby was on fire. Oh sure I've seen this happen before but usually a near instantanious event barely worth mentioning. We've all seen it in our own pipes. But this didn't go out.

I lowered my pipe and just looked at it. 7-10 seconds latter it finally subsided for lack of oxygen in the bowl. My mouth being filled with Custard and caramel I was still wondering where the Toby flavor was. So I puffed that bad boy with a vigor and vim another good 5 puffs. Where there should have been tongue bite there wasn't thanks to the Balsa filter. No gurgle, nuttin like you'd expect. the finally I could detect a slight pepper flavor trying to come through which would be the cavendish. But it never peaked out and just stay'd in the back ground.

The odd thing after I put the pipe down to assess the flavor a lil more was I noticed this oil slick on my tongue. This definately is not a pleasureable sensation. At least not to me. I'm sure this was engineered in there to giev the comsumer the sense of a creme flavor and in fact its an illusion. Rotten sensation to be honest.

I couldn't get my mind off the flame thing. So I pulled out a couple of pinches and packed it together and took a lighter to it. Didn't take but 2 seconds and a flame slowly rolled across the surface of the pile and eventually suffed itself out while hardly burning the toby.

Oh well. I cleansed my palate with some tea and pulled out the Cob. Simply put... same thing. Fire ball. Same flavor.... same oil slick on my tongue.

Can't have this. I hate to waste toby so today I Grabbed some mild burley and Creme burlee. I took a good sized pinch of CB and added 4 more of Burley and tossed it around for a good 15 min. Oh gees...... this stick muck stuff saturated the burley. I lit it up and definatly had a better time of it since now I could taste the burely and the cavendish. The custard flavor came through but it was part of the background. No it didn't work flavor wise. Try making some custard and putting a pinch of toby in with it. It don't work. Almost Nauseating..... but man that oil slick was back and its very hard to get rid of even with tea.

Strength: Extremely mild. If it weren't for the fact that the Cavendish came out to play I wouldn't have known this was tobacco.

Flavoring Medium. Tastes just like a spoon full of artifical custard. (Omitting the oil slick tongue)

Room note: Very very pleasant. This would make a great potpourri if you cook it in a potpourri warmer. Just imagine your home smelling like warm custard and caramel.

Taste: Mild to medium. But I'm confused with this one. Am I supposed to review food or tobacco? Tastes like dessert and not tobacco.

Recommendation: -4 stars. Due to the danger of small fires destroying your pipe and the oil slick on the tongue and the fact that this tastes nothing like any decent pipe tobacco I should submit a bill of services to Altadis just for trying this crap out.

But if you do wanna try it still....... keep a fire extinguisher and a tongue scrapper close by. Propylene glycol vapor definately burns.

It the cellar? I think not unless I find I have a few rats to kill.

If you like Butternut burley you will like this one. Very mild and has a pleasant sweet smell with a nice room note. I found myself puffing too hard to get tobacco taste and it is not forgiving of this. It is very typical as an aromatic, does goop up the pipe but i did like the flavor and pouch smell. Will leave ghost in the pipe so use in pipes that you smoke aromatics in.

The context of my review is that I have approximately 25 different aromatic blends, plus straight Cavendish, Latikia, and perique. I have switched up types and flavors and brands over the last 50 years. My grandfather smoked pipes. I like experimenting.

IMHO, creme brulee #701 is my personal favorite aromatic. I agree with most other reviews on this blend. I like this combination. HOWEVER, I recommend you let it dry over night, never over pack the pipe, and char longer at first light. Light around the edges of the bowl after first char. It is a sipper, not a puffer. Nice lingering scent in my mustache. People love the room note. Ashes tap out of my pipe easily. Vanilla raisin caramel to my senses. No fruity or rum notes.

If there's ever creme brulee on the menu wherever I eat, I usually get it. Love the stuff. So, when I saw this tobacco, I was excited and intrigued.

Then I opened it.

Not sure what it smells like in the pouch, but it's not creme brulee. My wife agreed. I could smell some vanilla, sure, maybe maple, but that's all I could make out for sure. Whatever it was, I liked the smell, but I had already lowered the bar for it tasting like creme brulee, and I was right.

Packing my pipe was a very unpleasant. It looks incredibly moist, but when you grab a pinch, it feels like it was cased with Vaseline. Made a horribly, greasy mess all over my fingers, the rim of my bowl, and because it was all over my fingers, it got all over the bowl itself. I could hear it squish while packing it. Had to wash my hands after packing.

Lighting it was a bit laborious. I do the 2 step lighting, with the first light intended to char the top of the tobacco. Took quite a bit of effort to get it charred. When I tapped the charred tobacco down, it was a crunchy, sticky mess. Kind of like tamping Rice Krispy treats. Speaking of, when lighting it, it sounded like a bowl of Rice Krispies--popped and cracked so loud and hard, that at times, a teeny, red ember would jump out of the bowl. It required re-lighting fairly often. Lots of gurgling throughout. Tried several different pipes, with and without Denicool crystals and Nordstrom keystones--didn't make a difference.

The taste was really mild, with hints of something good coming out sporadically, almost accidentally. Vanilla maybe? It wasn't very aromatic tasting, nor was it pure tobacco tasting. Hard to explain. But the actual taste wasn't displeasing, it just wasn't worth all the effort I described above.

Room notes are enticing. People like it. Smells sweet, with that classic, pipe tobacco smell people love.

Another reviewer mentioned getting an "oil slick" on his tongue. I think I experienced that, too, although initially, I wasn't sure if it was bite or some oily film. After smoking a few bowls (this was a lot of work), I came to the conclusion that the oily feeling is not the bite--because the bite is definitely there, definitely strong and definitely changes the way you smoke it--but it's either truly some kind of oily residue or it's chemical irritation, from the casing, I suspect. Kind of feels like your tongue does after spraying Chloraseptic in your mouth--kind of phenol-y and kind of a tingling numbness. This phenomenon affected the borders of the top of my tongue--front and sides. The bite seemed to attack right in the middle of my tongue.

Cleaning my pipe afterwards was a labor of love (for my pipe), as it was akin to scraping out a glob of melted asphalt from my bowl. I don't think drying it out beforehand will help that much, because it was way more greasy than wet.

I might try sprinkling some to my other overrated tobaccos (Old Mixture 79, BLWB), which are similar to ripping open cigarettes, dumping the tobacco in a pouch and calling it pipe tobacco, in order to give them SOME flavor and to maybe slow down their burning rate.

I finally got around to trying some of the Sutliff blends that were recommended to me when I first started smoking a pipe. I'm glad I waited until I was better at smoking a pipe, Creme Brulee probably would have bit me bad when I first started.

This is a highly flavored & wet aromatic, that actually tastes like it smells. You have to sip this slowly to enjoy it, or it is going to give you tongue bite! The jar note is a wonderful aroma that makes you wonder if you should eat it instead of smoke it. The creamy vanilla is the main flavor blending with hints of honey & caramel in the background. The tobacco is rather chunky & burns better when I pull apart the bigger chunks. I have had no luck whatsoever trying to dry it out, it just seems to lessen the stickiness of it. I will usually add some Five Brothers to help the burn & nic level. The first few puffs tend to be a bit bitey, but mellows soon after. It will leave you with some dottle & moisture in the bottom of your pipe, so be prepared for that when you clean your pipe.

If you like stronger vanilla aromatics, this tobacco will fit the bill. It is not something I can smoke every day, but do enjoy it on occasion. When you do smoke it everyone around you will love the room note, that's for sure.

On a whim, I ordered a 1.5 ounce bag of creme brulee when I refilled my stash of one of my usual aros (Count Pulaski). At a glance, my first thought was uh oh - how will this take a flame. It was drenched with topping. Anticipating the daddy of all ghosts, I lightly packed it into a throw-away cob and fired it up and I do mean FIRED IT UP!. I thought I started the whole pipe on fire. Make sure, if you have bangs, they are pulled back. It burned for about 10 seconds. How, I'll never know. It sizzled like frying bacon on every pull. Great billowy clouds of steamy smoke and a totally primo room note. Surprisingly good burn characteristics for this moist a blend. Didn't bother the cob, but I suspect it would gum up a regular briar shank and stem fairly quickly. Its the tobacco equivalent of a dessert wine. Really no tobacco flavor at all and it raised the blood level in my nicotine stream way too much. An interesting smoke and worth a try if for nothing more than the sizzle-effect, but for my after-dinner smoke, I need a nic-kick that would rip the average piper's head off. For sure I'll finish the bag but will leave this one to the aro-fan desirous of an outta-this-world bowl of candy and a room note that virtually anyone would adore. Recommended with reservations as above.

In the pouch- A pretty damp tobacco with a delightful aroma. Noticed the vanilla first, then the caramel, and a slight floral note. Had a very faint soapy smell which did NOT show while smoking.

In the pipe- About a perfect blend of vanilla and caramel toppings. Maybe a hint of honey. Smooth and creamy with a moderate sweetness. No bite or harshness. Thick smoke that you just want to hold in your mouth to enjoy the flavor. The taste lasts throughout the smoke. Not much tobacco flavor though. Leaves some dampness in the bowl. Very mild and can be smoked throughout the day. Requires more than the normal number of relights which suits me just fine. I just lay the pipe down while working, come back, relight, and the flavor is still there. Well worth the extra effort.

I do not normally buy Sutliff/Ataldis blends. they are the bottom of the proverbial barrel. However, a friend presented me with four of their blends for my birthday. Crème Brulle is a fairly good example of the Sutliff/Ataldis product line. The Tobacconist had pre-dried the blend before it was purchased (how is beyond me). It burned quick and hot with the acrid catch-in-your-throat bitter Burley burn of an inferior tobacco. With most of it's casing dissipated, the flavor was very monotone. Boring and uneventful would sum it up properly. With so many excellent blends available in today's market, one can surely find a much nicer one. This blend is a randy bottom of the barrel OTC.

I start every aromatic review the same; I have a love hate relationship with them. This one is a "love." If there's ever a tobacco that tastes like it smells, this is it.

Yes it's syrupy when its fresh, but that's ok. I didn't find it to be problematic in terms of burn quality. However, I do recommend you have a dedicated pipe for the blend. It will ghost the hell out of it.

The burly and virginias lend nothing. Cavendish is what holds this blend. Sweet with soft notes of vanilla and honey are it's profile that I found most noticeable when it's smoked on the edge of going out.

Room note is spectacular that will certainly won't offend anyone.

Overall it's an enjoyable after dinner / desert smoke.

I bought this blend based on reviews here and my general affinity for aromatics, but I really did not enjoy this at all. Marketing says it's creamy, has texture of vanilla, caramel, and honey. I would describe it as candy coated. I tried to dry it and my dry time seemed to make zero difference, and my blend stayed a sticky wet mess. I bet this blend would smoke better if I could smoke it slow, but I found I either had to puff it constantly, or re-light it. Because of that, I thought this blend was monotone. I'll try drying this for a week before I try it again, or maybe I'll mix it with something super dry.

2022-09-01 Update: I loaded this 3-year-old jar in a cob to see if age did anything to it. This is just hot air. There's a fine line between getting this blend hot enough to generate some flavor, but not so hot that it turned to acrid dumpster fire. And once you hit that sweet spot, it tastes like a weak imitation of BCA. This is an uninteresting, thoroughly forgettable tobacco.

Crème Brulee has got to be the aromatic lover's crème de la creme. It is very sweet & mild with a very attractive room note. I don't smoke many aromatics but read the description & bought a small one ounce sample to try. It is almost black as midnight in the pouch & the aroma is just awesome. Imagine a chef in the kitchen cooking up one of the finest & tastiest custard pies with a crunchy, buttery, glazed caramelized topping. It tastes & smells exactly like, well... Crème Brulee. You almost have to bake this in the oven for a while to get it dry enough to stoke your pipe bowl. It is the stickiest, moistest tobacco I've ever touched & can be used as a potpourri anywhere in the home or your vehicle. You'll need a wet paper towel after digging into the pouch to get the honey/sugary sticky stuff off your fingers.

Rather than baking mine in the oven, I just dried it over the stove top in a small pan, stirring occasionally until some of it turned a dark brown color and until a little dryer to the touch. Grabbed a handful and started gravity feeding my bowl & occasionally tamping until filled to the proper smoking level. I noticed some sizzling during the charring light & during the first few puffs. It develops a very good burn rate & is not the least bit harsh. It burns cool & requires a relight or two to get you started & doesn't create much condensation. From the pouch aroma one can expect the same flavor in this slow smoking blend & can be puffed on all day without discomfort.

The room note seems to add to the flavor nuance... whereas taste & smell combine to create a flavor. About halfway through the bowl you start getting a slight tobacco taste. If you like aromatic tobaccos with a mild taste & a heavy, delightful flavor, you can't go wrong with Crème Brulee. A burst of flavor & enticing aroma with every puff and it won't bite unless your pipe catches on fire. It leaves a buttery, sweet vanilla, caramel like, lingering flavor on the palate for a while after the smoke session. Based solely on the merits of an aromatic blend, it gets a high rating from this piper. I love an aromatic on occasion but prefer at least a medium strength but for those who prefer a milder option... this is one you might certainly enjoy.

Sutliff Creme Brulee has a jar note that is more honey forward to me with vanilla in the background. The taste flips this and it is more creamy vanilla forward with a little honey and caramel trailing behind. This is cased heavy enough that the tobacco flavors are muted and the sweet elements dominate the smoke. A nice change of pace for an after dinner smoke. However, this is very moist. I don't recommend drying it as the casing will lighten and I did not enjoy the tobacco taste which may mean it is less than A grade. In any case, lighting will cause it to hiss as whatever this stuff is cased and topped with boils off. It will leave the rim sticky and it takes a little time to clean off if you allow the tobacco to touch it. I also get a little prickly sensation on the tongue. It is not bite, it will go away after a couple of hours but it does mean that it cannot be an all day smoke for me. It does smoke wet so keep a pipe cleaner handy.

=Update 2020-11-30= I have smoked 8 oz of this over the past year, I have to say it is rather growing on me. I have found that if I pack this a little lighter than I would normally pack my bowl it smokes better overall. Keeping it slow and steady seems to help with that prickly sensation with the tongue as well. I am adding the fourth star. This is a outstanding aromatic blend.

As others have noted, CB is very similar to Molto Dolce. But cheaper! And toned down some. Its not quite as soppingly drenched as MD, either, but it's still loaded with PG. It burns strangely well despite this, leaving some dottle and moisture behind. Never gets harsh or bites. I detect mainly vanilla and caramel, and though I wouldn't quite say the flavor is creme brulee, it is still very pleasant and different from other vanilla/caramel blends I've had. I do find that non-smokers generally prefer the room note of this to MD. Altogether a quite enjoyable aromatic dessert blend from Altadis...earns a solid 3 stars from me.

Well this has got to be my favorite aromatic to date. What a great taste and pleasant room note. I tend to be an English blend smoker but I certainly have a few aromatics in my rotation and this bad boy is right at the top of my rotation. Really flavorful smoke that burns cool and stays lit well. Bite is mostly non exsistent. This gets better as it drys out but right from the bag is yummy.

I bought a creme brulee from a local tobacconists, not sure if it is atladis or abenaki (maybe they are similar). I found it to smell great in the jar, very moist and "gewy" so I let it air out for several hours. It lights easier than I expected, and sounds like fire wood crackling upon light up. Stayed lit ok, required relights, gurgles a bit at the end (I am a wet smoker anyways, especially in the bent stems I used on this blend) gave off generous amounts of smoke. The taste is one of my favorites and the room note is excellent. It is mild and did not burn/bite my tongue. After smoking I usually get an after taste or "cigarette like" taste, especially in the morning but I didn't really get it with this blend. I enjoyed it and will get more. In my opinion its worth a try, maybe just air it out a bit. Enjoy :)

Cream burley... After a pleasant shakedown cruise, thru a cob and several briars, I've come to the conclusion that this stuff is worthwhile. Hard to imagine anything with the texture of this stuff not being anything but a disaster, but like I said, worth having around. Lights easy, stays lit, and burns dry. Personally I did not have the goop problems others have mentioned, but maybe my tobacco was dryer. As with most burley blends, I find a sweeter smoke and pipe can be had if I stop the smoke, with small amount of tobacco still remaining in the bowl bottom. Amazingly, I found this stuff completely bite free, or for that matter, not even a tongue tingle appeared. No small thing with tobacco that has a almost sticky feel to it. As others have mentioned the aroma is almost custard like, very appetizing, which seems to comes thru mildly in the taste. As a blender or a straight smoke, I find it a fitter. Will I buy more? Maybe. My personal rating; 2.5/5

i purchased a few ounces of this at a local smoke shop after hearing (and smelling) good things from a friend while smoking one day.

like other reviewers, my initial thought when opening the bag was "wow, this smells amazing" and "no way this is going to stay lit." but as well, to my surprise, it lit fairly easily and i must say that i enjoy the crackling and popping as it burned the way the sap on a red fir log does in a camp fire.

a little bit of gurgling some time within the first 5-10 minutes of the bowl, but as i decently paced myself, that soon stopped as it had a chance to dry a bit.

although it wasn't really needed, as i was still getting plenty of smoke, i re-lit a couple times throughout and it burned cool and evenly almost all the way to the bottom of the bowl, giving me mouthfuls of thick, creamy smoke with every draw and leaving me with fine, greyish-white ash and just a tiny pinch of dottle in the bottom.

the same rich aroma and savor from beginning to end. no shift in flavor or complexity to it, just sweet, simple goodness.

simply put, if you are an aromatic lover (like me) then no doubt this should be in your regular rotation and right up there with your favorites. enjoy it best right after a chicken dinner in the early evening with a white russian.

This is a nice aromatic in the mold of BCA, but a bit different. Yes it's sticky and prone to burning hot. But taken for what it is, a low-cost aromatic, it is a nice smoke. A "comfort" tobacco for those days when you want a quick, easy to light tobacco or don't want to spend time nursing your higher end tobaccos.

Cream Broulee is a sweet dessert tobacco that doesn't taste much like tobacco but does taste very good. My initial impression was that it had to be too wet to light, but I tried it anyway before attempting to dry it. To my pleasant surprise it lit on the second light and stayed lit until it was time for it to go out. I say 'time for it to go out' because just as I tasted the first hint of sour, nearing the bottom of the bowl, it went out. What was left were a few black pieces of charcoal that didn't need to be smoked. Don't use this for getting cake in the bottom of a new pipe for that reason. However, after having smoked a half dozen bowls of Cream Broulee it has never once gurgled in any pipe I've smoked it in. Never left any wet goop at the bottom of the bowl (just dry charcoal), and leaves every pipe I've smoked it in almost as dry as when I lit it. This came a a huge surprise to me considering how moist the tobacco was in the pouch. But, as I said, it's best to sip it.

It probably would have bitten had I forced it, but it never needed hard puffing to stay lit and, by gently sipping, it never bit at all. Pack this loosely! If you pack it tightly it will give you a hard time staying lit and, in trying to keep it lit you'll probably find it biting.

The aroma is delightful. The taste id great, not overwhelming but a very nicely sweet dessert. So long as you pack it loosely and stop smoking it when it tell you to it won't give you a bit of trouble. All in all a very pleasant smoking experience for you and those around you. If I were restricted to just one aromatic this just might be it. I'm certainly going to make a point of always keeping plenty on hand.

Creme Brulee is actually a dessert in which they burn the sugar on top of a custard with a torch! This smoke comes very close to the real flavors of the dessert! Aromatic, sweet tasting, and very hot smoke, which is evident in alot of aromatics! Smoke this slow or you will get some bad tongue bite! But it is a good smoke.

I received an ounce sample with a tobacco order, and upon first inspection it was very wet in the bag, Opening the bag, I was hit with what seemed to be an over powering smell of cheap French perfume. I bravely tried it, packing a gloppy mess into my Clarks Favorite Savinelli with filter, expecting the worst. Had a problem at first lighting the stuff, so I let it dry out for a day in the pipe. Next day, not problem lighting, took a puff and was pleasantly surprised! A tasty aromatic to say the least, with none of the bite that I have experienced with Altadis products in the past. Not a four star flavor for me, but if you like aromatics, and are looking for a sweet, creamy smoke, this ones for you. The ladies like the smell too! Hint, open the bag and let the stuff dry out, duh.

I am writing an addendum to my last review. As this tobacco has had time to mellow and dry out, I find I enjoy it more. In fact I will most likely order some! Goes from 2 stars to 3.

Some of the most horrible things you could say about a particular blend is that it is too wet, gooey, sloppy, and just downright dirty. All these things are true of this blend. Want to break-in your new pipe in a hurry, just smoke a couple of bowls of this stuff. Get some of the gook from the wet pipe on your fingers and have fun washing it off. The most amazing thing of all is that a blend like this could still be mild - but it is! So do I recommend it? Hell yes and highly. Listen, if you are an aromatic smoker, you have been looking for this blend your entire life. Does it taste like tobacco? No, but neither does a New York Strip Steak and I love those also. This blend is absolutely delicious and I can not believe that anyone could complain about the aroma. I know you guys complain about your wives and girlfriends who won't allow you to smoke in the same house that you are making the mortgage payments on, give her a whiff of this. For over 40 years I have tolerated the condescension of the "real" pipe smoker, you know, the guys who smoke that English stuff that smells like burnt leaves. I have gotten over defending my choice of blends. I like aromatics -period! If you do too, this stuff will knock you out.

Ahhh, Altadis #701 Creme Brulee, This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE blend! I remember when I first tried it. I thought; "Wow, this is really wet. Wow, this smells really sweet, I bet it wont stay lit, I bet it smokes hot." WRONG. It stays lit well, despite how wet it is! It smokes cool, despite how sweet it is! It is DELICIOUS! Yeah that's right, I love sweet aromatics! You old dudes can hate all you want, This blend is AWESOME! It smokes a little wet but who cares? The flavor, sweetness, and coolness is WELL worth it. The chicks dig the room note, even the female tabacco sales staff call it a Panty Dropper. The crackling sound when lit is music to my ears. Many "flavored" so called "sweet tasting" aromatics have let me down, but not this one! I must say, this blend is what keeps me smoking a pipe, otherwise, I fear I may lose interest in this gentle art. BE ADVISED; This is a BULK blend that is often re-named by some tobacco shops. Be sure to ask for Altadis # 701 Creme Brulee, or ask the tobacconist to translate the shop name.

This tobac will have people following you around just to get a whiff of it's intoxicating aroma. The aroma and tastes are the biggest assets to this Altadis blend.

The liabilities: It will bite like a mad dog unless treated gently. It must be dried out over a period of several hours as it is extremely moist and sticky right out of the bag.

I would reccommend this (by itself) only to those who like strong aromatics. I don't usually care to smoke this by itself, but I find that a little bit mixed in with my other favorites will give a nice flavor. My favorite is one ounce of this added to 4 ounces of Scotty's "Butternut Burley".

While a bit on the wet side, after a bit of drying it smokes very well. I had no trouble lighting or keeping lit. Smoked very well out of a churchwarden(bent). This is the first tobacco in a while that my wife hasn"t made faces at me for smoking in the house in a while! I find the smell intoxicating and reminds me of walking into a bakery full of sweets and pies. Delicious taste although a bit mild, maybe flavoring could be a tiny stronger. I will definitely smoke this after dinner with coffee or around the fireplace in the winter. If you like a good aromatic, this would be a great choice. The only real downside, i did find it left a bit more cake in the pipe than usual although a lot of aromatics do.

This blend has so much grease in it, you can ring it out and fry meatballs with it. The tobacco taste is unnoticeable due to the very heavily cased leaf. All you taste is grease, vanilla, nuts and more grease. The heel of your pipe has a ton of goop in it when you reach the bottom. Keep pipe cleaners on hand while smoking because this will start to gurgle on you after about 30 seconds. I do have to give this blend credit though. The pouch aroma and the room note are outstanding. This is a crowd/wife pleaser for the aroma, but not a smoker pleaser.

When I opened the humidor I was greeted by the mouth-watering aroma of Rich Vanilla, Sweet Cream and delicious caramel. If this tastes as good as it smells I am in for a treat. The tobacco was moist, but not goopy as some described and I did not find it sticky either. It was moist but not overly so and I placed the tobacco on a paper towel for over an hour and enjoyed the beautiful aroma it brought to the room. The results were about perfect.

The course cut tobacco was just perfect for filling the bowl. The tobacco burned slow and it took a couple of relights to get it going but once going even at my sipping pace it only needed two more re-lights the rest of the way and that is because I am a slow smoker these days. I was pleasantly surprised after lighting for the smoke was billowing and thick, creamy and profuse.

Upon lighting the first couple of sips seemed smooth and creamy but little taste. However, the third sip there it was. A Vanilla that was not overpowering came through with a rich creamy taste, with tasty caramel and even a touch of honey. In the background was a touch of a grassy taste with a very light earthy flavor. Each flavor played off the other and it was a nice combination and very delicious. The taste stayed very consistent all through the bowl with one exception. Just before halfway down the bowl the taste of marshmallow that had been browned over a campfire appeared and complemented the assortment of flavors wonderfully. It disappeared just past halfway and the flavor remained steady the rest of the bowl. A very delicious smoke that at times made me feel I was eating instead of smoking,

The Tobacco burned evenly, steady. slowly and very, very cool which surprised me for a Aromatic. One would have to puff like a locomotive to get a bite from this. It was smooth, rich and best of all there was very little moisture in my Dr. Grabow Omega. Through the smoke there was a pleasant Vanilla and creme aftertaste in my mouth and it lasted for about 15 minutes after finishing the bowl. The room note was very, very pleasant.

This is a wonderful aromatic that not only smells great but tastes great. It is a smooth, thick creamy smoke that I enjoyed quite a bit. For those who do not like Aromatics steer clear for this is all about being a Creme Brulee not showcasing the different tobaccos. I happen to like aromatics although I think hard about them before trying them for many do bite. This is a work of art and I am giving a 4 starts out of 4 stars. Will put it in my regular rotation for it is one of the best Aros I have ever experienced. Definitely on my growing list of favorites for rotation

This dark clustering of chunky Cavendish, coarse-cut Burley and ribboned Virginia is truly an aromatic rapture. Generously coated in vanilla, caramel and a honey casing, Crème Brulee does reasonably simulate the French custard confection of note, yum!

With a puff, a strong roll of creamy, sweet floral Vanilla leads the top registration. It is superbly garnished by delectable backing of toasted buttery caramel and softened honey that come together to close the trailing accent. The fused flavor effect is truly beguiling. Warm nuttiness and sugary spiced wood from the Burley/Cavendish circulate on the bottom as a very elusive bit of Virginian grassiness pops-in occasionally; not much though. A little bit moist straight from the pouch requiring minor set-up, #701 does not bite nor burn hot. This goodie produces a thick wisp of rich smoke. Finally, the pouch and room note are heavenly exquisite and true to the recipe’s intent, thus making this blend a scrumptious dessert-like experience.

I'm only posting this as a warning to other people... this tobacco was soaking wet out of the bag, and anything called "creme brulee" shouldn't really taste like mint. Not trying to be a troll here, but this is the first time I've ever thrown tobacco in the garbage. Everybody's tastes are different, but my goodness this was just unsmokable for me... however, the room smells nice afterwards! I do like Lane BCA and Dark Red, St Bruno, and War Horse Bar, so I certainly have no bias against aromatics. This one however was a trainwreck from start to finish, just utterly foul, sticky, hard to keep lit, and, really, why would a thing called creme brulee have a minty menthol flavor???

As I smoke this blend I instantly note the vanilla and caramel. Those are the two main ingredients that are readily apparent. The flavor is top notch, with no bite or harshness. No nicotine was noticed. Only a small amount of residue was left in the bowl. So don't let the "goop factor" scare you away. All in all, a great smoke all day and all night. Update

Recently I smoked a fresh batch of this to compare it to Molto Dolce. Both are exactly the same in appearance, smell, moisture content, but this does lack a bit more of that candy sweet taste at the beginning of the bowl. Other than that it’s about the same. Hour of dry time and and it even crackles when it lights. Smooth easy blend. Very very close to MD and I would be hard pressed to tell the difference after 1/4 of the bowl. I did find that after an hour of dry time MD did burn hotter and was harder to keep lit. I usually dry my MD out for 24 hours. But for this test I only did an hour. With SCB you won’t need the full 24 hours .

Very Mild Medium to Strong Medium to Full Very Pleasant

After being a vanilla custard fan for a while now, I think that I have found my new favorite smoke. Won't disappoint aromatic fans, or fans of the custardy dessert. I also think that this smoke would be very good for the beginner palate, as long as they can get the moister-than-average ribbons that make your fingers look like you just packed a lip of chew to stay lit longer than 10 seconds.

I didn't care for the aroma when I got this so I jarred it and put it away...the aroma hasn't changed but the smoke is very pleasant. No tongue bite and nice room note of subtle creamy caramel. If you could do half points I'd bump this up to a 2.5 stars out of 4.
