Toasted Cavendish creates this mellowing flavor, but now a blend of Burleys and a hint of Bing cherry adds a zesty dimension. Just the right sweetness and subtle aromatic fragrance.
This past weekend I was in Columbus, Oh and I had the chance to stop in to Pipes & Pleasures. What a great place! They have a huge pipe selection and enough house blends to keep you busy for a while, plus a full inventory and humidor also a lounge area with FREE SAMPLES!! While I was there I was invited to pack my pipe with one of their blends that I would like to try. I selected Pipe Maker due to its description. Much to my surprise it is a cherry blend that actually tastes like cherry! and no bad chemical taste either. This blend is super smooth and never bites. While I was enjoying my pipe I met an older lady that came out of the back, come to find out she is a pipe maker and so was her husband but unfortunately he has passed but she continues to produce S&R pipes to this day. As I was talking with her and enjoying her stories of pipe knowledge I noticed the blend I was smoking kept getting better and better the farther down the bowl I got. That hardly ever happens with aromatics for me. It burned really nice and cool with no goop and it was just the right moisture too. Before I left the store with 2 new pipes and some accessories I grabbed a bag of this, brought it home, and packed it in a mason jar for safe keeping. I will probably go through it pretty quick and end up ordering more sooner than later.
