The freshness of the mixture derives from a combination of multiple cuts and pleasant, fruity aromas creating an exquisite taste and a slow burn, which characterizes this W.Ø. Larsen product as "Fresh & Elegant".
Summer…. wind Sirocco, heat, humidity and saltiness; this makes forbidding smoking many pipe tobaccos and F&E is good in this way: a refreshing blend with citrus and drupe fruits fragrance (similar to Brebbia Sinfonia # 3).
Here in Japan the summer is approaching, the temperature and humidly climb to an 'uncomfortable' level (well for this Canadian anyway) and that's when a mix like Fresh and Elegant come into their own.
Light, fresh and citrus rather than 'sweet' which I find too heavy at any time of the year, make Elegant & Fresh an enjoyable SUMMER smoke. I wouldn't enjoy this on an brooding autumn day or in the cold crisp of winter, but while watching the sun set over the ocean, attempting to catch the slight, ever so slight, lowering of the summer heat as night approaches is a perfect setting for Fresh & Elegant.
Don't get me wrong a steady diet of this wouldn't satisfy, but sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered.
I bought a packet of this tobacco because I like W.O. Larsen's Sweet Aromatic so much. Given the more economical price, the tobacco was very good quality. The pouch aroma and taste are in line - citrus (lemony) with a sweetish undertone. The "Fresh" in the name is an accurate description. The tobacco smoked cool and for an aromatic seemed to be very low on bite. An interesting smoke but just from personal taste not one that I find myself drawn to.
Bottom Line: An economical, "fresh" tasting aromatic, citrus in flavor with a slighty sweet undertone. Not my cup of tea but if you are drawn to the taste it is not a bad smoke.
Classic Danish blend with a perfect balance of Black Cavendish, Va and a precisely touch of burley. It takes a point of rich liquor, you can smell it when open the pouch. Cheap and a very well balanced tobacco.
I was given samples of 5gr. A nice flavored tobacco with a very distinct and strong taste, which I believe is a mixture of raisin, chocolate and lemon. I do not think that I will bother to find boxes of this mixture, without implying it is bad. Nevertheless, according to my taste, it is better than Signature, and definitely much cheaper.
My first blend to give me the perfectly clean burning, cool smoke sensation I always looked for in tobaccos. (I am a newcomer to pipe smoking with only a year of experience) Great, fresh flavour of lime and a hint a of powdered sugar complemented by the creamyness of blond virginias. No relights, no burns, no wet tin. 100% pure satisfaction from my side.
A nice aromatic with a very particular and strong flavor that I find it to be a mix of currant and lemon. Very cool burn and almost no tongue bite for such an aromatic, with a very consistent taste from top to bottom of the bowl.
If you're into aromatics, you need to try this one. If not, it's still a nice smoke to refresh your glossa from time to time so you can fully enjoy that lovely latakia and give your family and pets a break while you're at it.
Now if you really want to enjoy this blend, get somebody else to smoke it and stay close.
Update: down to two stars due to very strong flavoring. Similar and more subtle is Signature Vintage Mixture.
This is my first time with this famous danish brand, If you know me, you know I'm a big aromatic smoker, and I had heard wonderfull things about this company's aromatic blends, so when I finally opened my pouch, as expected the smell was delicious, something like chocolate and lemon, sweet and citric at the same time. the taste was so subtle and delicious, not overwhelming at all, nor bitey, just soft sweet pleasure, (as always I advice latakia purist to stay away from this kinf of mixes though) this is a solid mix with great quality tobaccos, not expensive at all considering the high quality of this aromatic blend. There's permanent rotation material here, and I'm already dying to try out the other blends by this house. Enjoy!!
My tobacconist suggested I try W.Ö.Larsen´s Fresh&Elegant, an aromatic that smelled like a market stand full of hay with lemons in it. I bought the minimum amount my dealer will sell (25g - not even an ounce) and got it in a ziplock bag that I tucked down in my pocket.
I just walked some 500 meters to get a nice place to sit and smoke it. I had held my hand in my pocket during the walk and when I pulled it out to start picking up my pipe from my bag, I noticed the smell of lime from it. When I sniffed my fingers I could feel the tobacco's flavouring(I guess) on them - it had gone through the closed ziplock bag in a matter of minutes.
Highly sceptical I stuffed my Chacom Prince with the baccy and all the time it smelled like I was squeezing lime ... It was intriguing to put the flame to the pipe and taste it. It lit very well and only needed one tamping. The taste was high, clear and zingy like lime zest, mixed with the lightest Virginia, everything felt a greenish yellow, so to speak.
I kept puffing and a gentle sweet-and-sour taste started to evolve a bit like cheesecake with lime curd only with a pie crust of brown caramelized sugar around it! It was - lovely!
I'll keep this one in my summer rotation and soon I'll try and layer it with a few coins of MacBaren's Dark Twist to spice things up.
