We mixed delightfully mild Black Cavendish with light pressed Burley tobaccos to produce this best-selling blend. Tobacco aroma; Full-bodied vanilla flavor enlivens the essence of this mild, tasteful blend.
I'm not usually a fan of P.S.'s Aromatic-type tobacs. I do like some of their flake-types quite well. Bought this from outwesttobacco.com in Idaho over the internet. This is much better than average in it's category. The vanilla flavor tastes more like a bourbon-vanilla and it is a bit much right out of the pouch. Fill your pipe, give it the charing light, and let it sit for a while. After 15 or more minutes light it up again and enjoy a very nice Aromatic with real tobacco flavor.
I told my wife when I get deployed to Iraq to send me this in bulk. This isn't my "if I could only have one tobacco..." blend, but it is an all-around pleasant every day, all day smoke.
The vanilla isn't nearly as obvious as I'd like, but it does make itself known. This is not overpoweringly cased, but has sufficient flavor to keep me interested. It has a pleasant aroma, so it plays well around other people.
I probably tend to smoke a bit fast and this burns a little wet, but has no real bite.
Not my favorite tobacco ever, but I keep quite a bit of it around. A good blend for the car or just sitting around the house. No major shortcomings, but no really significant strengths either. This is one of my default blends.
The black cavendish is very mildly vanilla-ish. The burley is toasty, earthy and nutty sweet. The vanilla topping is mild. I get a sense of alcohol in the topping that I can't quite identify that I found a little distracting, though it wasn't bad. The toppings lose a little of what strength they have in the final quarter of the bowl. Has very little nicotine. Burns a little too fast even when puffed moderately, and will bite if pushed too hard. Leaves just a little moisture, but no dottle. Needs few relights. The after taste is average. An all day smoke.
This is a very nice tobacco, about 1/2 black and half burley. It is fairly dry, smokes smooth, and does not leave a lot of goop in the pipe.
I did not think the vanilla taste was all that strong, but there was a delightful sweet and nutty sensation upon the palate. A bit of tongue bite if you puff on it too heavily. I have been smoking this long and low in a big heavy briar.
Wonderful smoke....3 stars for me, but certainly 4 stars if you smoke these sorts of tobaccos regularly.
This kind of falls under the category of "interesting" aromatics. I'll de-qualify my opinion a little in that I've only had one bowl of this tobacco. I will qualify my opinion in that I've tried over fifty different kinds of tobacco, and know something that's a little bit mediocre when I taste it. Well, mediocre for ME. God bless you if this is one of your favorites. I won't impugn this tobacco or the smokers of it if it is something they enjoy.
This blend didn't strike me as being especially good, as I didn't really detect anything that struck me as being extraordinary. It's really not a BAD tobacco, but it is, at least as far as I'm concerned, not an especially good one, either. Take or leave it... I'd smoke this if I had nothing else, but only then.
Again, it's far from the WORST tobacco I've ever had. Just this one was a little odd for my tastes.
Smoke what thou doth like, and like what thou doth smoke.
Peter Stokkebye's Black and Tan is hard to find in the tobacco retailers, I had to call Stokkebye in North Carolina and they referred me to Habanna in N.Y. to order the Black and Tan.
This tobacco has a unique flavor all of it's own, stronger in the Vanilla case than that of Cornell & Diehl's Black and Tan.
The combination of the toasted Black Cavendish and the pressed Burley makes this a mild tobacco to smoke. The tobacco packs easily and lights up with one or two matches. I generally smoke this is a medium size bowl about the size of a Dunhill Group 4. There is a bit of tongue bite if this is smoked fast and hot, other than that it is a mild tobacco.
The Vanilla make's its present known with it's fine aroma, and does have a gentle sweetness as the tobacco burns it's way towards the bottom of the bowl
I Love It
Keep your pipe cool, smoke it slow, enjoy it longer
