Lane Limited Edgeworth Cavendish Natural (Brown)
(2.67)
Achieves a hearty, satisfying flavor from the natural taste of red Virginia, Maryland, lemon leaf, burley, and Oriental tobaccos, lightly flavored with genuine hickory smoke. The final blend is pressed into cakes for an ideal "marriage" of the tobaccos, then cut cavendish to make it smoke smoother and longer.

The very nutty, earthy, woody, mildly molasses sweet burley is the lead component, but not by much. The woody, smoky, mildly floral and spicy, earthy, lightly sour and sweet Orientals play a step below the burley. The red Virginia provides tangy dark fruit, earth and wood as a significant player. The tangy, tart, citrusy, grassy lemon Virginia is as important as the red. The Maryland is an inconsequential flavor carrier. The hickory smoke process mildly sublimates the tobaccos, and has a complementary effect on the overall flavor. The strength is just past the center of mild to medium. The taste is one slot past that. The nic-hit is a couple of steps past the mild threshold. Won’t bite, but may tingle the tongue of a fast puffer, though I doubt that happened when this blend was in fresh production. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent, nuanced, complex, sweet and mildly savory taste that translates to the lingering after taste. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Can be an all day smoke. Three and a half stars.

What I liked about this was the cube. Great smoking experience. Rich fermented tobacco, full natural taste and aroma, enhanced by the easy burning cube cut. A good, balanced, cavendish english, with no topping. I'd smoke this more often if possible - in fact it's great out doors.

An old time tobacco. The pouch version is different than the tin version. It's well rounded and of good quality. Slightly sweet, cool, and burns clean and complete. Just good tobacco. No fancy bells and whistles here.
