Orlik Tobacco Company A/S Vintage Aged Golden Sliced
(4.00)
Orlik Vintage Aged Golden Sliced Pipe Tobacco uses fully matured Virginia tobacco as the base of this mellow flake cut blend.
The tobacco is pressed into cakes then remains under pressure to allow greater infusion of the leaf in the cake until it is fully matured.
The longer maturing process allows the flavours of the leaf to blend together, giving an even smoother, mellow smoking experience.

Is this the vintage version of Orlik Golden Sliced? I disagree. This is clearly another type of tobacco.
Due to a cold, I waited for more than ten days for this box of tobacco to arrive home without using a pipe and temporarily lost some sense of smell. When I received this vintage aged box with a so-called limited edition and a serial number exceeding 40000, I didn't have high expectations and hesitated whether to try it again in a week. However, when I decided to open this box and took a deep sniff, I found that my sense of smell had returned and I smelled a completely different scent from golden sliced, a very ripe fruity aroma. After ignition, the plump and mellow smoke made me certain that it was a higher quality tobacco leaf and a more perfect craftsmanship.
Worth hoarding in large quantities. Full score.

Orlik - Vintage Aged Golden Sliced.
This is a great blend!
Opening the tin reveals a blend that looks like a standard Virginia flake. A few rows of light brown, fairly thin flakes, in a paper insert. The moistness is just right for smoking, no drying time is a requisite.
It takes the flame with ease and straight off tastes richer than the regular Golden Sliced. It isn't as fresh and 'bright' tasting, it's doughier, sweet and more relaxed. I don't get much citrus twang or sharpness, but I do get a rich, red fruitiness. Any Perique 'spice' eludes me, to my palate it's all about sweet bread and red fruit. The burn from it's top shelf, once lit it only needs an occasional tamp. The smoke remains bite-free throughout a bowl, without becoming any more than medium in temperature.
Nicotine: milder than normal Orlik GS. Room-note: lovely.
Orlik Vintage Aged Golden Sliced? So good I stocked up after just a bowl! Four stars:
Highly recommended.
