Emerson Southern Forged Walais
(4.00)
Walais is an Oriental / Virginia blend containing Basma, Krumovgrad, Izmir, Red Virginias, and unsweetened Black Cavendish. It is nuanced, complex and utterly delicious. If you have not tried an OrVa, this is the one to try! No Latakia was invited to this party.
Notes: ESF never includes sweetening agents unless they are specifically mentioned as an integral part of the blend or as an option; propylene glycol is not used as a carrier for flavoring agents. The goal at ESF is to provide a custom alternative with consistent, repeatable performance, to the discerning pipe enthusiast. Pressed if requested. We try to create blends that captivate your attention, take time to unravel, and take you on a journey. Custom blend requests are welcome!

There are not a lot of Oriental / Virginia blends — period. Walais is spicy with the Orientals in charge. The citrus, grass and hay of the Virginia leaf takes a comfortable second seat role — they ride ‘shotgun.’
There is no bite. Lights easily. An aroma I can’t quite place but it’s delightful. Like a campfire but with lighter, maybe greener wood? Floral.
The taste is between mild and medium. I’ve never had a blend quite this interesting. Hard to categorize. I had mine pressed. Comes in a small round mason jar.
4 stars.
