The mostly gold Carolina and Georgia Virginias have a few darker streaks. They provide a wealth of tart and tangy citrus, hay, grass, bread, sugar, sour lemon some floralness, mild spice, honey, earth, wood, and vegetation along with slight tangy dark fruit and acidic notes. The toppings appear to be tartly sweet and lightly sour orange, plums and light ginger and honey. The slight vanilla note probably comes from a casing. They moderately tone down the tobaccos. The strength and taste levels barely reach the medium mark. The nic-hit is step behind them. The easily broken apart flakes are mildly moist and need no dry time. Burns cool, clean and a tad slow with a very consistent fruity, sugary sweet, mildly sour, floral, spicy, zesty flavor that extends to the mildly lingering, pleasant after taste. The room note is pleasant. Leaves little dampness sin the bowl, and requires a couple more than an average number of relights. Can be an all day smoke. Three and a half stars.

1989 is made by STG for Stokkebye, and this blend is a real winner. A wonderful citrus Virginia flake with notes of hay, orange / tangerine and bread. There is absolutely no chemical taste like you sometimes get from the K and K flakes. Quality top shelf leaf is used, and it will be an excellent candidate for aging.

I just picked this up as I’m a big fan of 4th Generation. As soon as I got it I cracked the tin. Smells like heaven. Lots of hay to me and bit of lemon and fruit. It came semi-moist. Perfect, really. Rubbed out great and took to the flame easy. Really I think this is an amazing blend, even this fresh. With age I see it getting better. To say this is aromatic though, is misleading. It’s not. It’s has a casing and a topping but it’s well done and not just an “aromatic”. I highly recommend this tobacco.
