Milan Tobacconists "Our" Prince Albert

(4.00)
We have carried Middleton Prince Albert pipe tobacco for over one hundred years and produced "Our" Prince Albert for our customers when the iconic OTC blend became difficult to acquire. "Our" Prince Albert is a mellow, clean-burning mixture of Burley and Cavendish with subtle notes of nuttiness and natural sweetness. Sit back, light your pipe, and wrap yourself in nostalgia as the familiar aroma wafts around you. "Our" Prince Albert is made possible with special thanks to our Middleton customers who smoked samples and provided invaluable feedback along the way.

I never smoked Prince Albert when it was still made in America. Apparently, it's now made in the DR and is not the same as it was. Middleton's downfall is painful to watch.

However, the Prince Albert faithful asked the good folks at Milan Tobacconists to give them their classic back. And with the feedback of hundreds of PA smokers, Milan did just that.

So I thought I'd give this match of a venerable mixture a try. It's been around since 1907. It must have something going for it.

The pouch note is sweet with some alcohol. I'm guessing bourbon is the topping.

As for the smoke, I found PA quite smooth and enjoyable. The burley was forward and not at all bitter. The sweet topping and the tobacco danced together to the bottom of the bowl. Neither one outshining the other.

The nic hit was non-existent for me -- and I like that.

Simply put, this is a delicious smoke that is not overpowering and can easily be enjoyed all day. What more can a person ask for?

Milan's "Our" Prince Albert is taking it's place next to their match of Carter Hall, and Sutliff's Matches of Holiday and Barking Dog. Life is good. "Our" Prince Albert is worthy of 5 stars.
