Century - Jamestown 1607 Plug.

The description says it's sliced into dense plugs? To me, 'dense' conjures up the image of 3P's. This is a dichotomy, more of a firmer krumble kake. The smell from the medium brown tobacco is a little musty, yet straw-like. Moisture's bang-on, ready to smoke straight away. The prep? As it's sliced the tobacco crumbles into a coarse consistency, unlike 3P's where it slices into whole flakes which need further slicing/rubbing.

Although the Latakia's a definite presence, it isn't a bomb. In this blend the Latakia's woody, musky, ambrosial, a subtle smokiness; subtle, not sharp. The Virginias really elevate the flavour. There's a formidable fruitiness from the red, the orange gives a fresher, more vibrant character. It burns nice, without much maintenance being a requisite, giving a cool smoke.

Nicotine: medium. Room-note: nice (IMO).

A bit dry in packet. Not a plug but a crumble cake. Char light gives you a little Latakia. Hard to light. Initially a light English with little taste. The Virginia begins to come through later with a tart citrus mainly and slight bready character. There is Burley in this that I can taste despite the description. Retro is harsh(from the burley I feel). No sweetness whatsoever despite the claim of 10 year old Virginias. Nicotine is under medium. Body is medium.

Fresh tobacco has nutty sweet aroma. No trace of latakia. Crumble cake was easy to prepare with accurate moisture.

Smoke was heavy with full tobacco taste. Additional components were bread, rosemary, nuts and little bit peppery. Smoke need several relights and usually leave some dottle.

I bought it, because tobacconist recommend it to me as one of the sweet, little bit spicy tobacco as good sample for me. I was maybe expecting too much, but heavy nuttiness is not my cup of tea. And I lack portion of sweetness during smoke.

We don\'t get a lot of crumble cake in the UK, and that\'s exactly what this is, despite the misleading moniker. It certainly is a \"melange\" of leaf, that crumbles nicely, I can see a nice array of reds, brights, dark and flecks of blackened latakia.
The tin note is figgy, musky sweet, but not overpowering. And that, for me best describes the smoke, it\'s a mild sweet English, with just a hint of campfire smokiness. It\'s well balanced, if not leaning towards the sweeter end of the spectrum, yet has a savoury, burleyish undertone, that is very enjoyable, providing a satisfying smoke with excellent mouth feel.
For me, it required a few more than average relights, but smoked dry and cool, no bite here.
As I smoke down the bowl, the flavour settles, there\'s no big surprises as you smoke down, everything just settles, and rounds off.
All in all, a pleasant, mild and sweetish English, that would be excellent for those aro smokers who are English curious.
