Theodorus Niemeijer Ltd Dutch Heerenbaai-Tabak
(3.00)
Tin states, "Real Hollandish Tobacco - This mixture is a real Hollandish fine string-cut mixture that is super-mild and free burning. Entirely different from all other tobaccos. Its super mild mellow flavor is the secret blending of 7 Dutch Colony Tobaccos, from both the East and West Indies."
Notes: Made in Holland by Theodorus Niemeijer Ltd, Groningen, Est. 1848, U.S. Distributors, Hollco, 37 Warren St, New York 7 N.Y.

Unopened 2 ounce can of Theodorus Niemeijer - Dutch Heerenbaai-Tabak. The 3/4-inch-wide Series 125 J.Q. Adams stamp dates it to 1956-1959. Series 125 was the last stamp in the series used from 1955 to 1959, but 1955 was a 1-inch-wide stamp and 1956-59 was a 3/4-inch-wide stamp.
Tin note of honey, sweet vegetation and deer-tongue. Tobacco is a shag cut of light brown and brown. Moisture content is dry, humidifying will be necessary. Burns fast with few relights. The strength is mild and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of honey and deer-tongue. Honey flavor seems to show mostly at the beginning before dropping out. The deer-tongue shows up later and remains in the background. Taste mild to medium (begins mild and finished medium) and mostly consistent, with notes of toast, mild honey, fermented sour vegetation, mildly bitter, spices, very woody, rich earthy, herbal floral, dry, mild deer-tongue, mild lemon grassy, a semi-sweet nutty and mildly spicy background note, and a mildly peppery, smooth retro. It's clearly mostly Burly with some Virginia. There's honey and deer-tongue, too. And I wouldn't be surprised if there is some Turkish and/or Cigar either, but I'm only guessing at this point. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great. (3 stars despite how good it is, based on availability)
