The white burley offers some nuts, earth, wood, and a little sharpness. The sugary black cavendish, like the white burley, is mostly covered over by the deeply rich licorice and cream toppings. The strength is a step or two below the medium mark. The taste is medium. The nic-hit is mild. There’s no chance of bite or harshness, and has no rough edges. It’s mildly moist, but I saw no need to dry it. Burns clean, cool, and a slightly slow with a sweetly consistent creamy licorice, lightly nutty flavor that extends to the pleasantly lingering after taste. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires a couple more than an average number of relights. Has a very pleasant room note. An all day, comfortable smoke. Three and a half stars.
