I was pleasantly surprised! I do not like flavoring/toppings in any way. Yes this does have a flavoring, but it is not a topping, it is infused, due to being aged in peach Brandy barrels for I believe it was two years. The Virginia’s in this blend were so fresh, it was easy almost to mix it up with Peterson flake. The flavor did take a little while to kick in, but when it came in, it was very subtle, quite like the subtleness of having lemon in your water. It would just peak its head out, and dance across delicious fresh Virginia.

Well I got hold of a few tins of the 2022 release of this ever so tasty blend and it’s as good as it maybe even better than last year’s release!!! Maybe it’s just because I ran out of last years long ago and I am nostalgic about it but this is as good for sure which means it’s great. To me this blend is the essence of “Autumn”! I remember late peaches and apples and cider as a kid, going to the local orchards, this reminds me of those fond memories. Yes it’s definitely got a peach 🍑 note but it could pass for sweet apples 🍎 too. It’s definitely worth getting hold of if you like aromatics that aren’t too sweet or soppy and that have a real tobacco back flavor this is for you. But act quick as I’m smoking out of tin #1092 out of the 1800 tin limited run.
Below is my review from the 2021 release, I see no need to change it as it says what 2022 is like:
Another fine VaBur Crumble Kake from Sutliff that has been aged for 90 days in a peach 🍑 brandy barrel and I must say that Orchard Mist gives me a nice soft fuzzy feeling 🍑
The Virginias and burleys used are of high quality and lend that lovely mix of sweetness, lemony, grassy slightly bread notes from the Virginias and a rounded more brown sugar and deeper and a touch spicy and a bit sour note from the burley. The time in that freshly decanted peach brandy barrel has added a mist of peachy goodness! It doesn’t over power the tobaccos nor is it all gloopy or icky sweet, it adds a very refreshing and mouth watering peach flavor with a dash of that brandy note too.
I smoked as crumbled straight from the tin into a fresh, and as long as my supply lasts, dedicated cob. It smoked cool and dry and smooth with a few delights and is basically a delight to the palate and the nose. Grab a tin if you can’t find it and give yourself a peach treat!!!

Tin note of peaches. Tobacco is a Krumble Kake of marbled brown, dark brown and light brown. Moisture content is ok, few pipe smoker will want to dry it a bit. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of peach brandy. Flavoring or infusion drops back to the back ground in the first 1/4, where it remains. Taste is medium to full and mostly/very consistent, with notes of peaches, sugar, toasted bread, spices, floral, orange peel/zest, wood, tart and tangy citrus, mildly savory, lemon grass, bitter, spicy, molasses, earth, semi-sweet nuts, a sweet hay background note, and a peppery retro. Virginias are leading with Burley and Flavoring supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is ok.
