R.C. Owen Co. Gallatin. Tenn. Silver Tip Fire Cured Twist
(3.00)
This twist is made from fire-cured tobacco! It has a very pungent, smoke-like smell and flavor due to the "Fire Curing Process", which uses large, gentle fires to cure the tobacco.

This pure fire cured Kentucky rope provides a strong smokiness, herbs, plenty of earth, wood, floralness, vegetative grass, sweetness, some barbecue, nuts, a little roughness, spice, and slight tea note. The strength is a step short of strong. The taste is very full. The nic-hit is a couple of slots below the overall strength level. It won’t bite or get harsh. This twist easily breaks apart, and is mildly moist. Burns cool, clean and a tad slow. Has a pleasantly lingering after taste, and a potent room note. Barely leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires some relights. It is not an all day smoke. Would make a good mixer if you’re so inclined. Three and a half stars.

Bought this on a whim. The twist came in a cellophane package, and although just 17 months old (it was dated) it was completely dried out and needed rehydrating. Not sure if it's technically Kentucky or some other type of 'fire cured,' but it's very monochromatic -- tastes like just Kentucky to me. Unlikely to buy again but it was interesting to try! I'll use the rest of it to add some punch to some milder blends.
