Chris Morgan Bayou Buck
(3.20)
A generous offering of Spicy, Plummy Perique is perfectly balanced with the tang and dark fruit of matured red Virginias. Green River burley is toasted for a unique Black Cavendish, the light application of which gives this VaPer a creamy body and light notes of molasses and a caramelized sweetness.

Tin note is sour tangy stewed fruit & vingar. The crumble cake is simular to suliff crumble kakes, easily breaks apart, easily rubs out. Tobacco is soft and dry. Burns slow and consistently once lit. The strength is mild-med, nic is mild-med at most. Flavor is med-full and changes toward the end. The taste is a deep tangy, lemon, dark stewed fruity, lightly floral and bready. The tangy Virginias is leading with maybe cavendish supplying the sweet and spicy perique supporting. Room note is pleasant and pleasant aftertaste. 4 stars.

A lovely medium VA/Per/Cav. I swear by Chris's Bones pipes, and it looks like this tobacco may become a regular part of my rotation. Tin note is delicious; figs, stewed fruit, a touch of winter hay. Presented in two "Slabs" of crumble cake, tipping the hat to being a Sutliff product. Smokes just fine from the tin, or can be dried a touch. I wouldn't get too aggressive with the drying. This leans more to the dessert side of VaPers, being very sweet at the first light and never fully diminishing. Although I'm sure the Cav helps bolster the sweetness, there is enough tang to make me think Red Virginias are leading the charge. They certainly present enough dark fruit and wood to announce their presence throughout the bowl. There is enough Perique to please me without being overbearing. I'd wager somewhere in the vicinity of 15-20 percent. It seems to contribute more fruit than pepper, but its characteristic sting is ever-present on the retrohale. In the middle two quarters of the bowl, a rather pronounced butterscotch note becomes apparent. I'm not sure this is a top-note, more likely an interaction between the Cavendish, processing casing, and what I believe to be a measure of brown Virginia. Towards the bottom of the bowl, the profile turns to more of a wheat bread and wood character. Refuses to bite, even for one who has terrible Virginia technique and is sensitive to acidity. Burns cool, dry, and slower than one would expect, given the high sugar content. Room note is fairly typical of the dark-grade VaPers I favor (BMF, Kajun Kake, Ect); less cigarette than mild cigar, with a slightly sweeter edge. I ordered four tins from the first run, two for tasting and two for aging. I'll need to order more for immediate consumption.

Wasn’t sure if I’d like this blend as Morgan’s straight VA tasted like black cav to me, I was afraid he was going to load it up on this vaper. I was wrong. This is a great tangy Vaper I will gladly smoke until the tin is gone but most likely won’t be buying it again.

Takes a light easily. Spicey, plummy Perique with delicious Red Virginias. Grass and tang from the Virignias are prominent and the Perique, while offering spice, also imparts a savoriness to this VaPer. Showcases Perique in a great forward way without it being a bomb.
I imagine a great choice for those exploring VaPers or just those appreciative of standout Perique and sweet, dark fruit Virginias, which also offer a nice bready foundation. A fantastic balance.

Another aromatic? This is the second blend ive tried from these and they are shaping up to be just as poor as the line of Bones pipes. Little flavor, burns hot and leaves a goopy mess in the pipe. Its easy to see the reason why the big pipe retailers dont carry these blends.
