Earthy, nutty burley and fruity peppery Perique. Great blend, becoming one of my favorites. No harshness or rough edges anywhere. Burns clean and cool. Good nicotine amount here. Most likely not something you would smoke all day but multiple times. This blend scores a 4 all the way here on the creek. Like all Wilke blends, it’s top drawer!

Full disclosure: I am the co-creator of this blend. The perique offers earth, wood, some dried plums, and a fair amount of spice as the lead component. The burleys provide plenty of earth, wood, nuts, some sharp sourness, toast, with a little spice, pine and vegetation, along with hint of molasses, and a small floral note as a supporting player. The strength, nic-hit and taste levels are a couple of steps past the medium mark. The taste is a notch past that level. There’s no chance of bite or harshness, but there is a little roughness present which is typical for perique-forward blends. Burns cool, clean, and a tad fast with a very consistent, nutty, spicy, floral, rugged, savory flavor that extends to the mildly lingering, pleasant after taste. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a spicy room note. Not quite an all day smoke, but it is repeatable. Four stars.

I most often reach for VaPers, and I don't usually enjoy burley, but this is a relaxing smoke with a nutty flavor and a touch of perique. The tin note is sweet, but the smoke is not. It burns cool and evenly. The consistent ribbon cut is easy to pack. It's dry but that worked for me. I wouldn't be surprised if this is good quality burley leaf. I'd recommend that this would be a good starter blend. However, the nicotine hit is pretty strong.
