Surprised no one has reviewed Sutliff Sangria yet. The tobacco comes fairly dry (not as dry as Sanbuca, but not as wet as Pina Colada) and the moisture does not cause a problem staying lit. The flavor is sweet but not overpowering. Could not detect any particular Fruit notes but this is a plesent smoke but nothing stands out compaired to other Aromatics. The price was right so figured it was worth a shot, will try it again at a later date and perhaps my thoughts would change.

The Virginia offers tart and tangy citrus, grass, light earth and wood with a few floral, acidic, and spice notes as the lead component. The brown sugary black cavendish provides some creamy sweetness as a supporting player. The exceptionally sweet sangria topping supplies a variety of tangy and lightly tart fruits (pineapple, cherry, lemon, orange) with a tart, bitter wine essence as it sublimates the tobaccos quite a bit. It doesn’t totally drown them out, but the sangria is the star flavor in this mix. The strength is a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium. The taste is medium. The nic-hit is in the center of mild to medium. There’s no chance of bite or harshness, though there are a few very minute rough edges. Burns cool, clean, and smooth at a moderate pace with a very consistent deeply rich tart and tangy, fruity, light bitterness that translates to the pleasantly lingering after taste, and room note. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires a average number of relights. An all day smoke with a little punch. Three and a half stars out of four.

Pouring forth in the rich tradition of fine Spanish wine, comes Sutliff Sangria #201 an alluring aromatic swill comprised of generous Black Cavendish and variable Virginias fluted in a coarsely ribbon-cut weave of tawny-bronzed and golden-brown tobaccos. Substantial is its promise for the sweetened luxury of vintage wine flavoring tastefully fused with assorted liquors and an ample spiking of choice citrus fruits, Sangria #201 positions to fully satiate one’s taste for punchy spirited extravagance. I do say “Ole” on behalf of the raging bull

#201 swirls forward with a pouch nose modeling the perfume of mellowed sangria with some tannic wine-like spice. Complementing creamy vanilla and a heavenly bold candied fruity essence, that is non-distinct as to source, further beguiles the senses. Just a light hint of native Cavendish sugary nuttiness and tartness project from the Virginia in support. This all-embracing combination lends Sangria #201 a sweet captivating demeanor.

Okay so now that the hoopla had been aptly queued, here’s skinny on Sutliff Sangria #201. The top billing sangria element personifies as a sweetly hooch carrying that classic spiritous air. Favoring the taste of spiced red seedless grapes, the projection of charming savor does properly hit the primary mark. Namely, when this sangria note brilliantly shines the course, it is exquisitely delectable in nature, no question. However, this showcased feature is neither consistent nor aptly distinguished with impressive force.

Mainly, the remarking of the wine presence seems to come and go as an unfortunate circumstance. At times somewhat wimpy and weak in the knees, the sangria centric flair gets shoved to the back of the line. The assertive influence of base components or the fuzzy sphere of general sweetness coming from the recipe’s other flavoring enhancements subdue its notable prominence.

On these individual additives, the assortment of ascending seasonings unfolds in a subtle manner. In practical terms the separate streams generally lack clear discernable registrations. With nothing but utmost focus, I listed a distant hint of cherry, the tasteful citrus combination of orange/brighter lemon/sugary lime, a bit of supple pineapple, and light peachy note. Alluring all the same but again not stellar in the overall effect. One thought I have is that blending is too balanced in effect causing a blasé fusion rather than selectively colorized flavor. Nothing really pops particularly, just a convergence of all, ala a vague front of comforting sweetness. I’m not a blending virtuoso by any means but there is something going on here that detracts from the glamour I experienced.

A sweet tarty feel circulates from the base Virginia as its nuanced by the desire to be of tangy hay, aged wood, and ornamental spice. In addition, the associated Cavendish contributes a bit of background sugary earthen nuttiness and darker smoky, bracing zing. With that I did log some faint vanilla most likely coming from an applied casing. The native varietals in themselves are quite pleasing on a positive note.

The room presence is characteristically light and inconspicuous. A wispy fragrance resembling posh sangria floats lightly to the surface bundling a minimal ghost of toasted nuts, native woodiness, and citrusy tart. Due to the Cavendish, the mixture produces a bountiful level of thick dense smoke. It tempers cool but will sting the tongue if one races the cadence; be warned. What is more, there is some residual chemical astringency that imparts upon the lips but nothing too obnoxious.

Summarizing this trial, Sangria is a mild intensity/mild-medium flavored aromatic. Pleasant and lightly entertaining for the most part yet not vigorously compelling. If you are like me with fondness for savory sangria, it may be worth a trial. You may decide that you find tremendous enjoyment, bully for you if you do. Honestly, I truly wanted to like this blend but again it just didn’t leave me mesmerized in any degree, too sad for me. 2.2 Pipes
