Motzek Kieler Foerde

Delicate, highly piquant pleasure for the latakia enthusiast! 65% full-bodied, velvety latakia, with the fruitiness of the perique and the airy spice of Orientals make for a satisfying taste-experience, compleetly without Virginia. An unique mixture.
Notes: "Förde" means "firth" and the name relates to the "Kieler Förde", a 17km long firth in the Baltic Sea.

Smell: Overwhelming in a good way. The smell of Latakia is fragrant and powerful. It fills your nostrils and - if you love Latakia - you will want to dive into the jar.

Taste: Smooth, creamy, rich, spicy, woody, roasted, at times balsamic. Here Latakia clearly dominates, but with elegance. All typical Latakia frequencies are there, possibly optimized thanks to the other components. Even though the Latakia is 65% of the mixture, the taste is very well balanced, and I do not have the feeling of smoking only Latakia, as happens to me for example with Commonwealth S&G.

Ratio Smell/Taste: The smell of tobacco reflects very well in the smoke. You get what you expect in the best way.

Moisture: Ready to be smoked. No moisture.

Filter: With and without.

Ghosting: Mild.

Sweet... well, this blend doesn't taste sweet, but I love mixtures without Virginia in it! They are very rare over here in Germany, the US-Pipe-Friends have the privilege to enjoy some of them. I don't know why it has to be in almost any blend... they work very fine without it!

Kieler Foerde's unburnt aroma has a delicious roasted quality to it, that reminds me quite a bit of Latakia Revival by TAK. Rich smoky notes, wood and earth, a hint of pepper and fruit, as well as some ethereal character to it.

Lighting it up I instantly get greeted by the roasted quality, along with a bold smokiness, earth and wood, but also a fruity backbone! The Perique is easily noticeable giving its signature notes of fermented, dark fruits, but always stays in the background. The star here are the 65% Latakia - yes... this is a Latakia Bomb! But far from being boring. All components are easily discernible. The Orientals have an ethereal oiliness to them, as well as some wood, butter and salty spice. Maybe some minor hints of tart nuts as well. The spice is smoky, peppery and salty. Only very minor sweetness is present to balance the smoke to perection for the Latakia-Lover! Great, bold and spicy aroma!

A delicious blend, not very All-day-ish for my taste, but definetly a special treat for when I'm in the mood for a bold, spicy blend, that's virtually not sweet at all. Not overly strong, but a tad stronger than 'Medium' and a full-bodied taste-profile. 4/4 stars, this might grow to be a favorite in the future!

Finally an English Mixture without any Virginia in it but therefore a reasonable amount of Latakia accompanied by Perique and Orients. For me sounds like an interesting tobacco and TAK blends (especially the natural ones) always hit the spot so I simply couldn't say no to Kieler Foerde.

Look in pouch is dark but not as dark as in the picture above. Cold smell is warm and spicy with wooden notes in the back. Packs well after drying a bit and burns just as nicely as expected.

Nice creamy sweet smoke in the first half topped by dry fruit; super sweet even without the VA. Latakia is clearly there but never too harsh or overcoming any of the other tastes. In the second half there's a bit more of the spices (both by the Latakia and Orients) now alongside some earthy, wooden flavor that's just perfectly dosed and an asset of the Perique adding a deeper body-taste.

What an experience; no need for any Virginias in here. Sweet and spicy all over and not boring at all. Nic hit is moderate but the room note...let's say my wife truly hates it.

My absolute favorite tobacco. It's incredible mixture it's blizzard EM but have a leg up respect the classic EM. This mixture is a real bomb of latakia 65% The best tobaccos in this mixture is oriental (more spicy ) and the excellent perique (little peppery) I prefer smoke this mixture to dry for a better taste. Highly raccomend
