This is another single tin Ebay purchase I made about four years ago; paid too much, couldn't get anyone to buy it and decided to open it. I'm glad I did, as, it is unusual for a Virginia blend. Don't look for any grassy and hay-like tones in this smoke. John Cotton's Honeydew is one of the strongest and stoutest Virginias I have ever smoked; and, I like that. It is also very Danish in it's presentation with an aroma that you can't quite define but know that its there. Rum is mentioned in the tin description and I thought I could detect a strain of it in the first third of the bowl. I found Honeydew to have a sock-it-to-ya kind of strength that persisted down each bowl. Can it nip? Yes it can and, if you pull hard, you'll find out. From it's rough ribbon cut, it's tin aroma and it's smoking aroma; its Danish all the way. Although I can't quite elevate it to four star status, it is a very interesting smoke that I feel I could recommend to all - assuming you can find a tin to open. They pop up at pipe show tables every now and then.
