IMP Turkish Pride
(4.00)
A smooth, medium bodied, English blend containing high grade Turkish, Oriental, Latakia, Perique and Burley tobaccos.
Notes: One of four English blends brought out in 2013 by IMP USA INC of Burnt Prairie, IL. The sale of the company to a competitor in 2015 did not include the tobaccos, which were then offered to the pipe smoking public at pipe shows.

Turkish Pride is IMP's Balkan English blend and it is not for the feint of heart. In terms of taste and aroma, it is similar to Sutliff's Bosphorus Cruise - only, on steroids. The full taste of latakia and the full taste of perique combined with the full taste of orientals and burley yields Turkish Pride. Rich and somewhat harsh in the tin aroma, the smoking quality of this blend is a rich and pungent Balkan aroma that lets you know its here and means business. In fact, to paraphrase reviewer Pipestud, it just might slap you around a bit. I have enjoyed smoking this mixture straight out of the tin and have had great success using it as either a base or as an ingredient in micro blending. This yields a strong and pungent four stars.
