Paul Olsen Njord
(4.00)
An addition to the range celebrating Nordic mythology. Njord includes golden Virginias with a pinch of Latakia and perique to give just enough spice. Accompanied by a smoky vanilla/chocolate scent; just enough without being too aromatic.

Paul Olsen - Njord (My Own Blend).
I like this, it bridges the gap between natural and aromatic blends nicely.
The first thing I like about the Nordic Mythology series from Paul Olsen is the tin art. Rather than the usual My Own Blend plain beige tin with a hand written name on it these actually have a tailor made label. Very good, but pointless if the blend's bad!
The tobaccos work well with each other in this, but there seems a bit more than just a pinch of Latakia (as per the current description). To me the Latakia's second to the Virginia with the Perique taking the seasoning role. The aromatics are a light addition, there's just enough of them to add character, without causing it to be a gloopy mess; from start to finish there isn't really any fluctuation in the strength of added tastes.
The room note's nice and the nicotine's medium.
Smashing: highly recommended.... the flavour's equally as impressing as the tin art!
Four stars.
