About Me

I'm in my 40's and I'm the only pipe smoker that I know. I grew up in northern Ontario, but have lived in the Niagara Region for 30 years now. The pipe culture here is sadly lacking and I know of only 1 good tobacconist in the entire region, and those shops are pretty much focused on cigars anyway. I hope that will change soon. I took up the pipe because every year my family would join my in-laws at a cottage where my father-in-law would smoke his pipe on the front porch. It's really the only time he smokes a pipe. It looked incredibly relaxing, so I decided to give it a try and bought a starter pipe and some other things like some tobacco of course, a leather tobacco pouch and a pipe tool. That summer I got hooked. It was so relaxing to just sit on the dock and puff away. Little did I know the world of tobaccos out there was waiting. That's the most fun for me, trying all the different tobaccos and finding new favorites. It's been about 20 years now that I've been smoking a pipe and it still feels new and exciting, and of course relaxing. I grew up with cigarette smoking parents and cannot for the life of me guess why anyone would smoke a cigarette over a pipe. Yes, I've become a pipe snob. I've attached a video. Marco Biagini from Moretti Pipes made of one of my pipes, a custom made Moretti pipe that can be seen in the youtube video below. I highly recommend Moretti. They make a great product.
