    Piguant Palate Preferences

    Posted by B P on 22nd Sep 2021

I've been trying several different blends and styles lately, and writing a few reviews as I meander down this path. I'm not sure what most wish to know when reading a review, so I try to elaborate just a little. Do you want to know more about the quality of the product and how it performs, or is a palate description more valuable? I try to share a modest bit of both, but upon reading and trying different tobaccos, it's abundantly obvious that we all have different palates. (And I'm sure mine changes with varying food, drink, and seasons.) As far as quality of actual leaf, this seems to be excellent in moisture level, prep-ability, smoke-ability, etc. 5 stars. But to me the palate is abundantly piquant. Look up the word if you're not familiar with it - I did and it helped. I saw that word on another site and I think it describes perfectly what I get (too much of) in the palate. Maybe it would pair better with cole-slaw, kimchee, or some Asian food. I can't get past the "pickled" component in order to appreciate the other flavors. 3 stars. It's definitely not bad, and it could be your thing. I will simply have to set it aside and come back to it in a while, hoping that after a rest I can get some other flavor from the profile. If not, I have many options with which to blend it a little. I've certainly found that's easy enough to do when you have multiple tins open and you want to tame something down a bit. ps My tin has a new / different label on it, although I presume it's the same blend. Cheers

    Meh

I don't know what to say really; this blend isn't for me, will probably mix it with some other tobacco. I’m more into the sugary sweet smokes, this tastes too much like bulk budget tobaccos IMO.

    Smells weird before you smoke

But it tastes amazing and more than makes up for it. I love this tobacco. Will buy it again. I bought it because I like the three nuns but this doesn’t really even remind me of that. It stands on its own.

This has become my all day any day smoke. If you enjoy Vaper blends I recommend this tobacco. the tin smells like a hayride or maybe a barn, but the smoke is great with little hints of what I relate to apple pie crust! The perigue and burley give it a fig spice body that makes this my favorite blend. Would also suggest Haunted Bookshop by C&D.
