    Take it or leave it

Maybe I'm not a burley smoker. The flavoring is very mild as others have said. I only get a whisper of molasses down near the end of the bowl. The nic is pretty decent down there too. Flavor in general is pretty low key and also doesn't really come out til the end of the bowl. I've had about four bowls of this over the last few month hoping that each time I'll like it more but I'm always left a bit wanting for more distinction. I don't think I "get" burley blends yet.

    I like it.

After getting back to a pipe 13 years later I was struggling to find the darkness I once craved. It turns out I don't crave the darkness I did in my younger years. I tried a 2oz tin of this, and when I finished it I purchased the 8oz. I don't like flavored tobacco, the molasses casing on this stuff seems to act more as preservative unless I'm enjoying a beverage w/dairy, then the sweet notes pop and blend well with my coffee/tea/chocolate milk...you have to try this stuff with a glass of chocolate milk. I didn't believe it, when I read it, but it is pretty great. Redburn brought me back to my roots and made me a believer in burly blends. And I don't smoke tobacco every day so the cake is grand for storage. Just pull some off, shove it a cob like a caveman and smoke it. -Cob Snob

Decent smoke but lacking in full flavor

I'm a fan of the strong English blends so I find this to be a bit on the mild side for my tastes. I would like more rum and molasses flavor. However, for the smoker who likes good tobacco with a slightly understated flavoring, this would be ideal. C&D is quickly rising in my list of good tobacco blends.

Excellent tobacco. Tin note is great, packs and lights well. I like that the rum/molasses topping is lightly applied and you only get wisps of it in the taste. You can also taste sweet, nutty Burley throughout, with occasional hints of Virginia tang and sweetness and spicy dark fired. It would be 5 stars from me if the nic strength was just a bit higher.

Highly recommend it's one of my favorites, flavor isn't overpowering and isn't like those fake added flavors that make you sick ,pretty strong and smooth.

    okay blend

The more I try C&D blends the more I find good tobacco. The basic leaf is very good with a soft feel to the cake. The topping seems to be a type of berry liquor added to the rum. It is a light topping and not chemical tasting, just a soft berry over the rest. I do find that very slow puffing is best to keep all the flavors balanced. I like rum/navy blends in a bowl from time to time and redburn was an okay blend for me.

Smooth, rich, creamy, full of wonderful flavors. Burns well with no tongue bite. Totally taken over by this blend. It makes me want to smoke bowl after bowl. Well done C&D!

Man, this is a great good quality codger burley blend! It’s basic but by no means a cheap type blend. I mean you won’t find it in ‘value tobacco’ sections. A nice medium nic hit and smooth smoking as long as I smoke it slowly. Direct from the tin it smokes just fine. I’m loving the aftertaste this I get Rum, period. The tin blurb pretty much tells you what you NEED to know as a review. I’m looking into a pound of this it’s so nice
