I needed a good smoke to start the day. Director’s Cut (H.U.Tobacco) fit the bill admirably. Such a great smoke, every time!

Next up, I think I’ll have a bowl of Black Frigate. I need to know whether it really is as good as I thought it was the other night, when I smoked it for the first time.

Well, Black Frigate really is that good!

Definitely up there among my favourite Latakia blends.

Nice pipe! Do you know the bowl dimensions by any chance? (Preferably in millimetres 😄)

It was an estate Mocha Grain. Length: 144.78mm--Chamber: 17.78 x 38.86mm--Bowl Height: 44.96mm--Outside Diameter: 34.29mm. Smokes great and I like the feel. Thanks!

Smoking a mixture of 60% Royal Yacht with maybe 40% CAO Moontrance.

The burleys in Moontrance plus a little extra fruit flavor give the Royal Yacht some needed depth, while the Yacht provides the nicotine and heft. Might try backing off a smidge on both tobaccos and adding a pinch of some vanilla.

Happy Easter!

I’ve been smoking Billy Budd in my Mastro de Paja Rhodesian. I need to let it dry out, but it smokes Latakia blends so well.

March has been an exploratory month for me. Bought over 20 new-to-me blends, and have tasted 11 of them for the first time. Tonight is the 11th - G. L. Pease “Sextant” in my birth-year Dunhill LBS. Just arrived a couple days ago, but must not be that popular. It was tinned June 2021 - already has nearly 3yrs age on it.

I’m smoking Peterson’s University Flake the last couple of days and right now. I enjoy it quite a lot. I like preparing the flakes between my palms and packing the pipe. Peterson says there is a plum note, which I get more through the sidestream and aftertaste… to me, the flavor of the smoke is grassy with a healthy hit of fresh oranges or marmalade, apricot and something a little darker beneath… and that’s it. It’s not a very complex smoke but it’s simple and easy to enjoy. I could wear myself bouncing between a million blends and flavors but this seems to be becoming a staple.
