2016 Gawith Hoggarth Brown Twist Sliced in a TV churchwarden. The photo doesn’t do it justice.

You must be unbelievably nicotine proof. I heard that packs a wallop. If I remember correctly. 🤔

Well I'm feeling better today. Trying Royal Yacht again since I was able to eat this morning.

Mac baren navy flake. Love the way this blend pairs with a nice glass of red wine.

Flanagan, HU Tobacco. Looks great. Smells great. Tastes… interesting! 😄

I’m still getting my to know some varietals, Oriental in particular. I think it’s that I’m tasting more of in this blend. Could be the topping/casing though 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve just read the description in the Flanagan review. It’s definitely the Oriental I’m tasting! 😊

Such a great blend. I’ve been smoking it for many years and I still find myself thinking hmmm? and huh? when I smoke it. I have some straight Krumovgrad Oriental leaf and I’d bet a dollar at least that it’s the primary oriental in the blend.

It’s good to know it has a similar effect on an experienced pipe smoker. I’ve only smoked it 3 or 4 times and I’ve had a slightly different experience each time. It will certainly keep its place in my cabinet, (containing my top 57 blends) I’m curious to know what it’ll be like next time! 😄

Another interesting blend with orientals in it is amphora full. Only tried it for the first time recently. Really worth while and not what you would normally expect from an aromatic!

I haven’t tried any of the Amphora blends since Mac Baren brought them back to life. You’ve got me curious now. I’ll pop a pouch in my next order.

Happy Leap-day! Finishing out February the way I started it - Presbyterian Ordained Danish flake - this time, well rubbed out. The pipe is a smallish (group 2) Shell Briar - just the right size for a short smoke break.

This finishes out my “Virginia month” experiment. Definitely moved my palate - for all tobaccos.

Prior to this, I smoked 2 or 3 large bowls of Aromatics, and 1 or 2 small bowls of complex aged English/Balkan/Scottish blends per week. I added to that a DAILY small bowl of a straight Virginia with my morning coffee.

What changed? Well, I don’t dislike straight Virginias anymore - but they’re still in 3rd place for me. The bigger change was that Aromatics moved from 1st place down to 2nd, Complex English moving into 1st.

I guess this means I’m a daily smoker now. …maybe. We’ll see.

Finishing out with Mithril and coffee, then I will likely polish off the rest of my Escudo. My tobacco order should be here just in time for some new tries in March!
