I enjoy using wooden matches. The flavor/aroma of a match is so enjoyable. The sound when it’s struck properly, and the hiss and bright flash of ignition is always satisfying. They’re a pain in the butt if the air is moving at all, so I’ll use a Bic in those situations and/or a zippo.  (Don’t hate the lighter fluid smell, but also not a fan). When you do have to relight, the match can also get very slightly annoying. “Clench pipe, open box, pull match, close box, strike and relight” vs. “flick my thumb, relight”.

I’ll fully embrace the nostalgia though, and use them as much as I possibly can.

I have always a match box with me, because I like them, but smoking outside gives almost no chance to use them. My match box is more than a year old and it´s almost full.

I use regular clipper lighters exclusively, refillable, flint can be replaced. Basically a €1,50 lighter that can last forever. The flame gets larger when you tilt it which makes it ideal for relighting a pipe. It doesn't make sense to me to buy a €100 lighter when I can get the job done for €1,50. I'd rather spend that money on a pipe or tobacco.

I would rather stock tobacco as well for my money… but lighters make great fidgets and are just really cool.
