Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Curly Cut Sliced

(3.00)
Manufactured by spinning tobacco leaves into a rope which is then made into a roll form, pressed, and then finally sliced. Unlike the whole ropes which use all dark leaves, this is spun using bright outer leaves. This results in a milder nature and contrast in colour.

Gawith Hoggarth - Curly Cut Sliced.

The pouch contents look to be a sort of mixture of coins and ribbons with there being a higher proportion of the latter. The tobacco that's been left in coins isn't big enough to necessitate rubbing, they're of the perfect size to be stuffed and lit straight away.

That brings me to my next point nicely: igniting this is easy as can be. It's possibly because it arrives in loose pouch form so there's been no chance of any moisture getting trapped inside as it allows it to breathe.

The flavour from the smoke is pure Virginia. Pure, but slightly milder than a lot of straight VA's. There isn't one bit of acridness throughout an entire bowl, just a good/fresh Virginia sprightliness.

Two areas that are easy to describe are the room note and nicotine: The room note is pleasant and not at all heavy and the nicotine is just below medium!

This is a definite four star smoke, one of the founding reasons for this is the condition it arrives in. It's ready to smoke right away as the moisture's ace and it needs no extra rubbing.

Highly recommended.

This tobacco is sold loose, and it arrives as little coins and unraveled ribbons, pretty dry and easy to load in the bowl. Pleasant Virginia pouch aroma, slightly more "musty" than "sweet." This is great quality stuff, but I had been hoping for something slightly sweeter. However, I've acquired a taste for this consistent, cool-burning smoke after five or six bowls. The five or six bowls were pleasant, too. I just didn't know what to expect. Anyway, I've started doing something I never thought I would ever do, and that is, after loading the bowl with Curly Cut, I add a pinch of Lane's 21000 or some other pleasant aromatic onto the top of the bowl. It gives the whole bowl a slightly sweeter experience. I had hoped for something more like Full Virginia Flake, but Curly Cut is not flavored at all. So I add a pinch of aromatic.
