The burley is toasty and a little nutty. The black cavendish has a light vanilla taste. The vanilla topping lacks depth of flavor, though it manages to sublimate the tobaccos. Might be a hint of caramel in the topping, too. Has almost no nicotine. Won't bite. Burns cool, clean and smooth at a moderate pace, and requires few relights. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no goop or dottle. Has a routine after taste. It should be more than it is. Two and a half stars.

This is a pleasant but mild mix of a mild toasted burley and a vanilla black cavendish. The burley does not provide many notes to the profile, but it thins the vanilla. It is slightly sweet and an easy smoke. It was very cool burning and easy to keep lit.

The only thing really that keeps this from being a 3 in the ratings is that there is a odd flavor I can't put my finger on, and it lingers in the aftertaste for me. It is slightly medicinal or maybe chemical. It is hard to say.

This was OK, and it is better than not smoking, but there are better choices out there.

Not a bad black and tan by any means, but nothing over inventive either. I don't believe I'm the only one that's ever mixed BLWTB with some BCA (I imagine some other pipers have done the same) and to me that's about all it is. Moist, sweet and a bit limp in the wrist as far as the Vitamin N is concerned. It did the trick, but I'd say there are better aromatic burly blends out there.

This combination of Burley and BCA (black cav) satisfied my sweet tooth. I liked it as much as other black cavendish-based aromatics. Little bite and plenty of vanilla if you puff moderately.

I'm gonna give this 4 stars not because it's the best tobacco on earth but because it fills a niche few other do and I think is underrated and under-reviewed here. I have a problem with Virginia's, not a moral issue but an actual sensitivity in my mouth that makes it feel like I'm smoking acid, which has developed over time and keeps me from enjoying some of my favorite English blends (some of which I have a lifetime supply). I went on the Burley quest and have found several I like but many bore me to tears- I have a sweet tooth and love what VA's and orientals bring to a blend. Lane B&B is a strait forward burley aromatic with the classic Lane topping. If you like the Lane flavors, but are adverse to the VA's like in 1Q or RLP-6, this fills the void. If there are VA's in here I can't detect them nor do I get the irritation. It smokes cool, has the nuttiness of burley and the sweetness of the Cav and topping. It's very well balanced and not cloyingljke many Lane blends (you don't feel like you ate a whole bag of marshmallows). It smokes better in a bigger bowl as the burley develops more and you don't just get topping and Cav. I plan to buy a pound of this and see how my mouth feels after a month or so alternating with my other burley blends- this one for the sweet tooth.

Mild nutty burley mixed with a vanilla black Cavendish. Overall the flavor is pretty light, even the vanilla which is the dominant flavor of this blend. This blend is easy to pack and light and didn't bite. Could be an all day blend for someone who wants a light vanilla tobacco.

Lane Limited - Burley and Black.

For a 'Coarse Cut' blend, it contains a high proportion of normal sized ribbons, there's one or two broken flakes, and a few leaves, but absolutely zero twigs, or chunks. The aroma from the pouch is slightly aromatic, but nothing strong.

I like the flavour: a vanilla-led aromatic, but it's not too heavy. As well as the vanilla, I get another added flavour, only much gentler: maybe toffee? Where the tobaccos are concerned there's nothing unexpected: I taste vanilla-nuts from the black Cavendish and Burley. The burn from B+B is very independent, needing only a little maintenance, giving a cool smoke. To me, the sweetness seems to strengthen as it nears the end of a bowl.

The room-note's pleasant, and the nicotine's mild.

If I'm honest, this would bore me as a Go-To, but would make a lovely evening smoke.

Recommended.

This has a good bit of vanilla, but also some licorice and cherry. Its pretty sweet; I can tell there is burley under the flavorings, but that's about it. It would be a good dessert tobacco every now and then as a change, but I can't see smoking it on a regular basis.

Another nice aromatic from Lane Ltd. The topping does not overpower the tobacco, though one does have to "look behind" the vanilla to taste the tobacco. No bite. This burns well with a minimum of relights. It does leave moisture in the bowl with a bit of dottle. It is a nice, easy smoking blend.

I'm a little puzzled by this one. A good smoke but its flavor profile seems to be a dead ringer for Blender's Gold Burley and Black. Same blend name but two different labels although BG is made by Sutliff and this by Lane ? A fellow reviewer mention a slightly odd taste and smell, which is exactly what I notice when smoking the BG version. I recently purchased a tub of Heines Blend and had that same experience of odd flavor and lingering scent. I don't think its a mold issue or inferior leaf. Sounds like the topping used and burley don't fuse well. Best way to describe it: a nutty lemon sour with a slight ammonia aroma. The Heines Blend should have a malty, coffee and walnut like quality if memory serves correctly. This time around it felt like there was a mix up and the B&B got put in the HB tub by mistake. But that pugnet smell is hard to get rid of. Maybe some dry time will fixer right up. Other than that LB&B is a decent codger type.

Without using flowing descriptive words describing the taste of burley tobacco mixed with black Cavendish, let me just say this is a good burley smoke that smokes smooth the whole bowl through. Great all day long smoke!
