Virginia and burley make the character of this blend. Medium coarse and cube cuts force the aromatic fruity flavor of this mixture.

Rattray - Sweet Fragrant.

The un-lit tobacco gave a lovely sweet fragrance off and you can detect both the tobaccos and the aromatics. The varied cut gives very intriguing aesthetics. The initial smoke has a really good texture of flavour where the Cavendish is the prominent tobacco you will notice and the aromatics are (I found) a good mix. Granted, the vanilla does outweigh the plum but I found it to be just right. The combination of the vanilla and plum give it an almost flowery overtone. I don't think the room note is anything to shout home about albeit not at all unpleasant! I don't get any bite, but we all vary in that department. As aromatics go I found it to be not too heavy, but just right!

Highly recommended.

My fellow reviewers must have never tasted French vanilla ice cream, which is vanilla ice cream made from a custard base, and the topping is unmistakably that. Any plum flavor is way in the background. Room note, tin note and pipe note are all identical which is unusual. Good quality smooth creamy tobacco. Perfectly balanced blending. Hydration levels are perfect upon opening the tin. Stays lit. A dessert or early morning smoke rather than an all day smoke. If the plum came out more and there were less sticks I would have given it 4 stars.

Mild Mild Mild Very Pleasant

This is a very pleasant smoke and the Virginia flavor manages to come through thanks to the very mildly sweet discreet topping which will present itself at first light more than later on down the bowl. Certainly a quality blend for the smokers of aromatics, or, as a change of pace smoke.

This is a wonderful aromatic that came out of the tin perfectly dried, which tells me this was going to be a quality smoke! This did not make my pipe gurgle at all, not one bit. This tobacco has a good mix of Virginia with several different cuts of leaf mixed into a product that fills a bowl quite well and does not end up being sucked into the mouth of the smoker as the bowl tamps down. The flavor is of black cherry with some cream in it. The room note is very pleasant. I should also add that the black cavendish burley does not bite the tongue even when puffed vigorously. I don't have the slightest idea why this tobacco has not been given a good review up to this point. I recommend it to anyone who wants a dry aromatic that doesn't foul up a pipe.

A really nice blend from Rattrays this.

A distinctive aroma and mild taste ; you can tell it's quality. Not quite as pricey as Davidoff's Danish, to which this is comparable.

Incredible tin aroma, clean burning with enough character to remain interesting to the bottom of the bowl. Surprisngly no comment from Mrs RH re room note, that I thought was quite good. Hell, what do I know anyway.

Well worth having in your stock. I know I will.

I think this is one belongs to the few aromatics I tried and I really liked! Never bought a tin but I had a generous sample from my friends in Fred Trader of Oxford. I have to admit that I could go with that stuff all day long. It has a very enjoyable sweet taste that goes perfectly with a cup of black coffee! A pipefull of that and my usual caffeine fix could be my Greek breakfast any given morning! If you are like me and adore Virginia/Burley blends AND light aromatics DO buy one!

I don't so much find it fruity as nutty-sweet; essentially a Dutch/Danish aromatic, slightly more flavoursome than a Mac. Not unpleasant.

I'm glad I gave this a try. I like the tin's 3 old-fashioned notches for opening with a coin. Once opened, the aroma is a cherry creme or cordial, and there's a definite cocoa essence. All of this is reserved, however, and not like Paladin or Cherry Blend. Next, the cut is rough with large pieces of Virginia and Burley in light and darker shades. It lights quickly and burns without many re-lights. The tobacco flavors come through at once, while the room aroma is the aromatic essences. The wife has repeatedly mentioned how nice it smells, and she's never commented before. It doesn't leave a great deal of itself behind, but I'd use caution before putting it into a Dunhill. I'd say dedicate a pipe to this and see how it goes. Highly recommended.
